B team

Looks like a few new players incoming for the B team next season.

I would imagine a good few of these will be made up of 18/19 year old released from our near city neighbours.

At last, building blocks starting to fit into place again below 1st team level

Trying to get ready for CAT 2 academy again I think.

  • It was a "behind closed doors" match, just players and staff, no club officials, fans and media coverage. B team won 2-1, we, Colls hit the post 6 times and bar 3 times. Pettifer and Lockett on l

Is he the ginger kid who was warming up pre match with the 1st team a few weeks ago

I see a trialist, who has done well in non-league this season, scored twice for the B team.

Anyone know who it is?

Looked like there was half a team of trialists playing yesterday.

Very good.

Point taken, but it will come out fairly soon if he continues to do well.

I posted this in the Transfer Rumours thread but it's actually more relevant in here I suppose.

With us looking very very light in a few areas, does feel like it starts to unravel slightly with just one injury/suspension in a couple of key positions.

None of the B Team lads really seem to get a sniff though, which seems a shame, could really do with this set up bearing some fruit soon.

Khumbeni when I've seen him has looked decent, surprised he's not been in first team squads more, especially with our lack of that type of ball winning deeper midfielders. The CBs not progressing is the most disappointing for me though, got Toure and Yoro who have been around for a couple of years now and not got a look in, plus that Hayes-Green we signed from Liverpool in the summer who I'm told is a left sided centre half.

Any one watch or know more of those younger lads than I do?

I trust IE to be on the ball and knowing if and when his b-team/reserves/stiffs, call them what you like, are ready to step up.

That nobody has tells me all I need to know.

quick look at the b team results, they've only won once this season

results really don't matter

its about trying to get 1 or 2 into the first team

Our youth/reserve set up was absolutely decimated

It takes years to rebuild reputations and attract good enough potential

I wouldn't expect the B Team to bear fruit for another couple of years

Champions of Lancashire 2025 at both U18 and U21 level!

To be kept in the B squad & released next year.

Sorry, just feeling a bit cynical at the moment.

Good for Inwood, btw.

Fantastic achievement, well done lads and let’s hope it’s proved that some of you are worth a place in Schu’s first team plans next season?

I’m definitely not pissing in anyone’s chips or parade… the Burnley team they played in the final was the U18s, as U21s had another.

For context, a 16 year old was marking 34 year old Andrew Tutte 😂

That’s mental

I would love to see a few of them progress to the first team

Article in the BN about Tutte's player coach role.

Helping the youngsters on the pitch.

At his age, he's not going to be flying round like the spring chickens around him.

Presumably, that's why the rules allow it- for the benefit of the young players' development.

100%- see Jay Spearing at Liverpool and Tommy Rowe at Man Utd. They ain’t there to score the winner, they are the old head needed

Tom Huddleston did that role before Rowe at utd. Most clubs have an older player in the U23s/U21s to be the coach on the pitch.

Think the rules are about 3 over age players in the 11, so that it can still do the old reserves job of helping 1st team players back from injury

Yeah- Tommy is really sound lad; his old fella is tiny but hard as nails- old school martial arts expert from Stockport 😂

One of a number of departures no doubt.  Made his 1st team debut in the Vertu Cup game vs Wrexham in Februray

I liked it. Like the good old days. Think I blame John Terry for this modern fanfare mumbo jumbo.

I don't know who he is but if you're going to do, go full on Alfie May

I think he over did it on his feelings a tad but it was a good start
