April 19, 20224 yr I think the stick he gets is largely unfair. Technically I think he's one of the better players in the squad and before his injury was easily our most threatening going forward. Sure, he's a bit lightweight and has occasions where he drifts out of games but we've had far far worse play this season let alone ever.

With some they seem desperate not to be the guy who makes the attacking ball forwards.
April 19, 20224 yr Kachunga isn't good enough for us but, by God, he's miles ahead of Ameachi. Kachunga has shown glimpses, albeit very brief, that he does have something about him ... but the fact that those glimpses stand out a mile show that 99% of the time he's simply not doing enough. Whilst I'd be disappointed if he's still around the matchday squad next season he's far from one of the worst ever IMO. Ameachi is definitely up there with the worst loan players we've ever had. Hopefully for him he can start afresh somewhere else, have an injury-free run and get his career back on track, because he looks nothing more than a park footballer at the moment.

That’s where having Baka and Dadi will pay off. Can’t be afraid to mix it up I agree we're good at home, but the likes of Plymouth, Pompey and Sheff Wed do look very organised, physical and able to defend and build incisive attacks. We've struggled to score in most recent homes before yesterday, I still feel we need to go up a level in home games, we cant always rely on late goals. Against Charlton, Lincoln, Morecambe, Plymouth, Pompey, Sheff Wed in last 2 months we've been either behind or level until around 77th minute minimum, and we've stopped keeping clean sheets. Not a criticism, but I'm looking forward to seeing if we can improve next season.

April 19, 20224 yr Kachunga isn't even in the long squad of our worst players. He may fall short in some respects but I'll raise you a Mike Carter, see you with a Peter Olynyk and keep Ian Moores up my sleeve & I've not even started on Chino's less celubrious ones.

As frustrating as Kachunga is, I'd add that his attitude is never less than 100% for the team, and that appears to be the case whether he's on the pitch or not. That can go a long way in a squad game, especially when compared to some of the bad attitudes we've witnessed (Sordell, Andrews etc). And just thinking of Wildschut and Proctor gives me shivers. I could name 20 players worse than Kachunga from the last 10 years even while giving a free pass to the non league dross we had last year. BTW I didn't think Mike Carter was that bad! But I didn't see most of his games, just remember him scoring and creating a few decent goals in a poor team.
April 19, 20224 yr I also think carter was far from shit Young lad in a club falling apart As for kachunga, you read some shit on here, but to describe him as one of the worst in 25 years?

Mike Carter's top flight games for Bolton contained some jinking runs that were outstanding. There was a 2-1 home win over Tottenham in which he scored a goal we'd all be talking about to this day if the cameras had been there. All went sour later, for the reason you state. And he wasn't the only well coached young kid to suffer in the early 80s.
April 19, 20224 yr Don't have to go back to the 80s, I could name a full squad worse than Kachunga from the last decade (and without naming any of our kids). Here's a few that spring immediately to mind Wellington Silva Rob Hall Marvin Sordell David Ngog

April 19, 20224 yr Kachunga and amaechi have shown sparks but when the team was utter dogshit. That same "spark" now is just stringing a pass together. No way either are on worst 11 squads of even the last 5 years let alone 25. I could probably trawl through some squads of the last 10 years and make 3 lots first 11s that make you go "WHO?" We've had some fucking dross
