I don’t think Katchunga is as bad as some on here make out, but he shouldn’t be anywhere near our starting X1.

Nonsense. He should be very near. Might not be as good as others, but he's a very decent back up for this level.

Does a job and works his socks off, can be tricky and hard work for the opposition as he is always moving into space and can run at them.. but working with Amechi on Monday showed all his flaws.

‘Back up’ isn’t in our first X1.

He’s a squad player at best.

One of my weaknesses is that I'll always jump to defend a Bolton player regardless. When was the last time Ameachi played? He was definitely rusty yesterday, but I think it's unfair to judge any player after a lengthy spell away from competitive football.

Agreed.  There's definitely a player in there and he's still very young.  If he were to get a run of games under his belt, who knows?

Doesn't matter anyway. Very much doubt he'll be back here next season.

One thing I've not seen mentioned, Bakayoko's performance in both games, particularly at Doncaster in the sunshine - incredible to think how well he played on no water or isotonic drinks.

Wasn’t sure if this had been shared.

First thing Evatt does after every goal there is shake the hands of all the support staff

I wonder if Evatt does what he does on all those 3 goals for every goal we score?

Team ethic certainly plays a big part in “Brand Evatt”

Fair play. Maybe Mike Carter was an unfair choice but there'll be plenty more to replace him.

To be fair my choice of shitest player I ever saw, at the level we were at the time has always been Liam Trotter. I have no words for how crap he was.

The mainnpoint, really being that while Kachunga hasn't looked like a guy with 2 Premiership seasons behind him he's hardly worst of the worst stuff.

Kachunga is decent off the bench and seems to make a lot more happen as a sub than when starting.

Though admittedly you could make the same case about Baka and Bodvarsson lately.

My first choice for worst XI will always begin with Chris Bastard Taylor.

I’ve seen enough of Kachunga to think he has something about him, more suited to games against Oxford/Crewe etc rather than the bigger, physical teams.

Id rather him not play too often but far from the worst we’ve had. Just look at the squad we started last season with

Not actually sure where Kachunga’s best position is to be honest. That’s tells you an awful lot about the impact he has made.

flashes of ability, works hard but very little end product.

came on against Pompey in the No 10 role and I thought he was excellent in that little cameo. Started there / just off Charles Sat and was completely irrelevant. Just don’t know what you’re going to get with him.

But he and Baka do seem more effective off the bench

Big part in a game at city too

Think it was the 2 down to 2 apiece

Yes the Tottenham game at home (we won 2-1) was the one immediately before the City game. A rare bright patch in an otherwise shocking season. He looked really promising.

Mike Carter played for Wrexham against Bolton in the game when we got promoted out of Div 4 - just as a footnote.

So, in essence, good against tired legs, not so much on an equal footing.

Don't have to go back to the 80s, I could name a full squad worse than Kachunga from the last decade (and without naming any of our kids).

Here's a few that spring immediately to mind

Wellington Silva

Rob Hall

Marvin Sordell

David Ngog

God I'd forgotten all about him!  Scored a good goal at QPR if I remember rightly, but that was about it.  He would try to beat 3 men before he even looked up, and usually did beat the first 2 but then lost possession.  Another "precocious talent" from the Arsenal production line to go with Myachi and Amaechi.  You hear "he was at such a club for 5 years, so he must have somethiing about him", well we've fallen for that line a few times. Ethan Hamilton played for Man U apparently.

for now, im going to assume evatt has him down as one of our top 6 attackers

thats enough for me to reckon hes not as bad as the hyperbole suggests

most of bodvarrson/20 goals best work has been late on when the oppo has probably been tired by the earlier attackers

My post was in response to @barry cowdrill’s post, not an opinion.
