Have we decided who we are voting for?

Or can't be arsed?

Strangely, our current lot have been more visible than any I've seen before. Hands on, doing things like environmental improvements; dog shit bins, litter picking, planting etc. Nowt massive

Stop fishing for likes off Bolty, it’s pathetic.

😁

I'm still one of the 'dirty dozen' so we won't see it.

Plus - look at this lot..

How so?

well, the eyes of the nation might be a tad dramatic but it certainly one of the councils to keep an eye on as its all the the balance. Bolton is the only GM council that is led the Conservatives and that was because of the deal they did with the lib dems. So if there is say a dramatic shift to Labour then it might be an indication that people are unhappy with the government and a chipping away at the blue held 'red wall'

Personally I'm guessing there with by a minority led coalition, and Labour won't gain overall control.

So if I write MJ Williams is the Messiah and give that in, will that help?

Cheers for that, still relatively new to local elections

Probably not if you want your bins collected.

Just remember local councillers have NO control over the central government so if you have a hard-working and dedicated people who are concerned about your local issues vote for them. Don't get swayed by what's happening in the HoC.

Think roads, refuge, regulaton and representation.

Also keep an eye on Barnet, Wandsworth in London - these shifting to Labour would be big

Bury, Hartlepool and Sunderland in the Red Wall areas - Labour want to show that back on track and the Tories want to consolidate their Northern position

Cheltenham and Esher and Walton in the South - if disgruntled Tories shift then Labour will certainly make a big deal about it.

Each party is focusing on key areas to show they are making progress, so you can sort of ignore a lot of results.

Heard this morning that the Greens are looking to make gains outside their traditional areas ie not just the south, so might one for you.

Also...who the hell are these...

My mate has "communist party of Britain for Bury" as one of his options.

Our lot

Think litter picking, potholes getting filled in, objecting to housing developments that are plainly dodgy, dogshit bins every 10 yards.

That kind of thing.

I was hoping they’d bring back witchsmelling as part of their manifesto but no joy. Still ticked their box.

Unsurprising  really with all that taking the knee that's been going on.

Fair enough. I didn't think witchsmelling had ended in Horwich last time I went out for a night there.

It hasn't officially, but I think we should return to duckings and hangings on Station Park.

The stocks are still in place up on Chorley Old Road, so it could easily be done.

The parish stinks of witchcraft.

As an aside, I saw my first "exit poller" when I went voting earlier. Told them I'd blown my nose on the ballot paper, but they didn't so much as grin.

I’m quite impressed they’ve picked up on Horwich’s railway history with the “independants’ sign

Tories blaming Labour

Labour blaming Tories

None saying what they would do locally, just a sniping contest.

Lib Dems talked about pot holes, litter pickers and sorting out the town centre.
They got the nod.

Local Tory candidate phoned me to ask if I’ve voted (I hadn’t) and if I am going to vote, would I consider him.

Said I would vote for him. I lied - fuck him. Now they know how we feel.

Play offs more important than going to vote

Well played mate

Becky Forest LIB/DEM Candidate for Breightmet is against a referendum to leave Greater Manchester.   Sorry Becky but you never got my vote just on that basis, there’s not that many folk I’d imagine wanting to be part of it.  I’m Lancashire, that’s where I was born, I want no part of Manchester on my address.

The Govt won't realise folk are unhappy with them, if herberts like you vote for them at a local level.

I want what’s best at local level, I’ll do my national vote what’s I consider what’s best at the time.

You could always light a candle and put it on Facebook? Seems to work for most things, apparently.

Your perogative. If the Tories clean up in the local elections how do you think Boris and co will view it?

'Our local, grassroots people are doing a sterling job' Or

'The nation loves me and are right behind me, Pritti and Nadine' ?

To be fair I think all political commentators know the locals don't give the full picture only indications due to the reasons given above.

You could rub dylans dogshit in carries fadge as a dirty protest and Boris would still think he's Churchillian

It doesn’t matter what Boris thinks about local elections, it won’t effect who gets in No10, that’s for the General Election.   If I thought these new independent lot would make our town into one worth visiting I’d vote for them.  I understand what your saying, but I want what’s best for our town.
