Have we decided who we are voting for?

Or can't be arsed?

Local Tory candidate phoned me to ask if I’ve voted (I hadn’t) and if I am going to vote, would I consider him. Said I would vote for him. I lied - fuck him. Now they know how we feel. Play

The Govt won't realise folk are unhappy with them, if herberts like you vote for them at a local level.

It's not supposed to be a protest vote. You vote for those who are going to the job best in your area.

I do wonder about the public at times.

Maybe we should start teaching election history and protocol in schools.

Your perogative. If the Tories clean up in the local elections how do you think Boris and co will view it?

'Our local, grassroots people are doing a sterling job' Or

'The nation loves me and are right behind me, Pritti and Nadine' ?

There's been some odd things written but this post is so dense light is bending round it.

I realised that this is what politics is around 2010

So only voted lib dem since, they're not great, but they aren't the other two

And they mostly won when I've voted for them

If you’re suggesting the density is similar to that of a collapsed star or black hole, then the light would be bending into it.

I know it’s not the point you were making, but I think the science needs to be portrayed correctly.

You thick cunt.

Behave! Doesn't matter how good or well intentioned a local Councillor is, they're still inextricably linked to the national party.

What happens if they're not part of a national party...

No baggage.

But probably mad, racist or both.

I've voted. I've closely studied all the info that has been put through my door over the past few weeks by the candidates. It's was all basically the same crap but in a different colour. Weighed up the truth, lies, bullshite and who had the biggest tits.

Fuck all to do with Bolton but voted the local independent party. They’ve made a difference since getting seats on the council. Unfortunately we fall under Oldham and that’s one corrupt shit show. Good old Clifford would have looked like a ray of sunshine over here.

Totally different vote come GE time

As you were, Bolton.

They won.

But as a whole, it’s almost exactly the same as last time.

I’ve not looked at the rest of the country yet. I voted for the local mob who pick up litter and have a more parochial outlook.

Im sure the Tories will claim success no matter what happens.

Tories have lost Westminster.

Surprising as I assumed the voters there would let Mogg and Johnson inject their children with Ebola and still back them.

Looking at the early results, Labour can kiss goodbye to wining the next GE. No surprise there.

The Tories still getting an increase in votes in areas that voted for Brexit…. No surprise there.

The Tories added a seat here in Bolton. If Bolton is a barometer as has been suggested, you could be right.

Chorley looks to have gone more Labour, only one Tory councellor won and by a much smaller margin than last time.

The BBC results page shows the Tories as having lost 120, whilst all the other parties have made gains.

Does this mean Man City should be in the final? 😁

The overall mood seems to be anti-tory but not pro-Labour.

The thing is as ever, you can't make too many assumptions about these elections. Local elections have lots of different issues in play from people voting in parties they wouldn't vote for on a national level to significant local issues - there is a reason Labour find it difficult in Bolton and what Cliff Morris did has a long legacy which is not easily forgotten or forgiven.

So the picture is more complex and you'd daft to make assumptions about the GE on this (I don't think Labour will get an overall majority in the GE BTW) both the two leading parties will claim its been a good night, the Tories saying its not been the decimation that was predicted (that was never going to happen), Labour pointing to the historic gains (but still not making huge headway in traditional seats) Only the Libs Dems, the Greens and local independants can honestly claim to have had a good night, but that's always the way in mid-term local elections

Labour now more than ever is the party of London, but also this is about local issues as well - we had Johnson as Mayor don't forget and his achievements were neligible and his leadership chaotic. Also, given everyone's rates have massively increased you can see the mess the Tories are in here. Also London voted for the last 9 of the last 10 PMs.

So basically, everything is all to play for. Tories aren't in great shape, Labour haven't convinced as many people as they need to, smaller parties making headway...Maybe another colilition is on the cards? Any roads, its going to be facinating to see what happens.

The town has a history of voting for the election winning party.
