Local Elections

Have we decided who we are voting for?

Or can't be arsed?

  • It’s not just social housing though. The plans are for private dwellings also. It’s the only way towns can now regenerate with all of the out of town shopping centres and online shopping. I don’t see

Local Tory candidate phoned me to ask if I’ve voted (I hadn’t) and if I am going to vote, would I consider him. Said I would vote for him. I lied - fuck him. Now they know how we feel. Play

Strangely, our current lot have been more visible than any I've seen before. Hands on, doing things like environmental improvements; dog shit bins, litter picking, planting etc. Nowt massive

Dunno who it was but someone on here said if you don’t have a party you want to vote for then abstain can’t remember why but it was a good point might have been @Not in Crawley

I might just write Ian Evatt > Simeone on mine

Spoiling your ballot is a good idea because it means still taking part in the democratic process even if no party particularly appeals.

It's something I've done in the past because I recognise how fortunate we are to have free and fair elections. I wouldn't want to just not bother when so many people in countries across the world desperately wish they could.

I have seen the caravan storage one on New house Farm but not seen that one off Tarbet/ Torridon

there’s been nothing on that patch for years , not sure how they’d create access to it like , just 4 ginnels into now , but you never know , you could fit a car down them just.

this part of Breightmet must be the only sprawling estate without a kids play park thinking of it, kids can’t access a park without crossing Bury  rd or down to Long Lane.

used to be a superb place to live here, it's a shambles now, I'm still looking to moving out of this town and it hurts to say that.

theres no decent shops because there's no footfall.

There's no decent shops because there's no money. It's moody as fuck, I reckon it's not long before I stop feeling safe myself, no way should anyone who can't fend off a smackhead be in town. Also, I guess any decent shop would get robbed out of existance, by smack and spiceheads.

Went to town yesterday and it's the worst I've seen it.

A load more closed shops,  smackrats all over the gaff and who now appear to outnumber relatively normal folk

Even the pigeons have fucked it off

They should build houses on greenbelt land and chuck all the scutters in there.

You knew it was nearing local elections last Saturday, 2 of our local candidates were on Colls

My local councillor is Labour. He’s fine, I don’t have a problem with him.

The Lib Dem councillor in the area where my shop was, did a monthly newsletter, if I lived there, I’d vote for him.
Bolton Council is led by the Conservatives. They are trying to put right everything that the previous Labour led council did to our great town. Hopefully, whatever the local results, the council balance will remain the same.

she's not getting my vote that's for sure, she's supposedly against the building on Wyresdale but she's not strong enough to influence her own elected colleagues and fight it.   Breightmet has over 25% of the total social housing of Bolton already and is earmarked for another 25% of the planned total housing, considering we have 21 other wards I think we're  just a dumping ground.

Bit unfair that. There is a planning committee etc. There is only so much any one person can do.

There is also pressure on local authorities to produce so much development according to an overall house building plan. Bury seem to want to fill in every bloody field they've got.

Which brings me to wyresdale's new gaff. Looks to be a shoe in given the anti nesting netting thrown over one of the hedgerows. A typical move when development is imminent as nesting birds cannot legally be disturbed- so prevent them from doing so in the first place.

That the new development over by the top bull way ?
hearing there’s loads of objections to that from within Bury Council itself .

and nesting birds are protected from being disturbed but anti nesting netting isn’t , get on it 😉

These Developer cunts normal get what they want. That industry is more corrupt than the PPE industry.

Fought for years round me to stop a new development. It got thrown out 3 times by 3 different council committees after appeals.

One judge overrruled. Bent bastards.

She doesn’t come over as anyone who cares about Breightmet, she’s from Westhoughton, yet her colleagues have decided to lump these shite houses on playgrounds and football pitches without a whimper.  She’s paid to represent the area, but as I see it she’s failed miserably, she’s not getting my vote.

True that. Mate took his daughter to a concert at Victoria Hall. He didn't know that car park behind McDonalds  had gone so had to park a bit away and walk. Said genuinely nervous bag head hoodie types everywhere staring at him. Really sad what it's become Town. Just can't see decent folk going back for anything now shopping/eating/night out. I mean why would you?

Don't think any political party can save Town Centre.

not in it, I've never heard anything so Soul destroying as the plans to build where they are.  Pathetic

What would you like town to do. In my opinion it’s exactly the right thing to do for points Frank points out.

I'm voting for whatever Mon has the most "one issue" party going as a semi protest vote.

So far it's the "make Bolton part of Lancashire and not Greater Manchester"...

:D

Declare war on argentina?

Go back to the 30s?

Look at cheltenham, tc is walking distance for loads of people...many with money

I fear those who will live in walking distance from town will be the undesirables referred to above

It’s not for me to decide who is desirable or not but where do you want the housing to go if it doesn’t go in the wastelands of the outskirts of town?

The houses will end up somewhere and we will still have a gaping hole in our town.

More footfall more shops, pubs or whatever floats peoples boats.

Im yet to see a plan b that comes close.

Swamps like Ancoats etc have been regenerated to something completely different and yes you could argue that’s manc but we are only a train ride from that and a short one at that.

I might run next year on the manifesto of make Bolton great again.

2 steps...

Turn all 87 retail parks in the Borough into social housing

Turn the town centre back into the thriving metropolis of piss can clubbing shoppers delight that it was in the late 80s and early 90s.

Politics. Piece of piss

I have a couple of rough and ready types near my house who I keep in check. Don’t worry.

My mother in law lives pretty much in the town centre. She’s in her eighties and goes out regularly without any hassle. My wife took her out for lunch yesterday in the centre as they do often. I go in a lot and I’ll admit, It’s not what it used to be, that’s obvious but the planned developments will hopefully bring the changes needed.
It’s like our football club, things will improve but give it time.
