99/1 here.

Last time I went to Wigan our manager was wearing shorts and dropped Muamba for Eagles. We won 3-1 . Yoof wore shit shoes.

It seemed a good day....

What a shame, it looks like the Tics have missed out on their much anticipated sell on fee from an Antonee Robinson sale as he looks to have signed a new contract at Fulham!!

A tic at work was saying they would get around 3 million off that, deluded cnut

I've never liked future transfer fees add ons.  Whether a chap in London decides to move or put his roots down could be the difference between a lower league club being relegated or promoted.  Just pay what he's worth up front and take away the possibility of other teams having a stake in whether a player looks for a move.

Was supposed to be nearer double that if the £35m reported fee is accurate. Hope there’s a time limit on the clause.

But he might improve and demand a higher fee.

Only if he moves.  If Gerrard had started at Tranmere and moved to Liverpool for £500k plus 20% of any future transfer fee, they get zilch, his improvement would be of no benefit to them.  Or if Scholes/Neville had started at Bury/Oldham same applies.  But someone like Danny Ings starts in Div 3 with Bournemouth, moves around loads and they potentially benefit from every transfer fee.  Just doesn't seem right somehow.

Eh?

A club who sells a player and insert a clause of a percentage of any future transfer fee only get it once, not for every move for the rest of his career.

Clubs make commercial decisions based on where they stand at that time not what fans think their players may be worth some day.

We've been screwed on it a few times but I reckon the alternative was "it's the same price regardless..".

We've hardly had the upper hand

Fair point, your probably right on that although god knows what clauses there are for some transfers, I've heard of some wierd ones and nobody really knows except those involved.  The principle remains, you only get the full value of a player you sell if he decides to move on again mid contract.

I think a sell on clause is fine. If you have a young player who you just know is going to be special but as a smaller club know you have no chance of seeing that with bigger boys sniffing around, it makes perfect sense to include an agreement that if he does deliver and turns that promise into reality, then the original club should benefit from any sale later. I can’t really see any issue personally though I know it doesn’t always work out as planned.

‘Tics’ fans are now saying that instead of closing the upper tiers to make the ground seem fuller, why not just rip out all the seats and replace them with bigger ones - priceless 😂

... or use every other seat so they can put their shopping/pies/drugs/big coats on the one next to them.*

*this works as 1 in 3 as well.

Well one thing they could do is open one and a half or two stands to Bolton when we play there. Won't happen because of GMP but it'd be a pay-day for the tinpots.

Their no1 goalscorer gone and they ain't to happy, apparently he scored 27 last time in league 1.

3 coaches plus the gk coach gone,  the reality of mass cost cutting seems to be sinking in now.  Bless

Dont forget though they do still have Josh magennis as their main striker!

It'd be good to see the likes of Wyke, Hughes, Aasgard, Lang and Whatmough walk as well.

Nixon was saying earlier in the week that the 14 day notice period for players who'd had contracts breached ended yesterday. However it's not clear how it's going to play out because of course all these players need to have a club interested to actually utilise that right.

One thing that can be said is that their four or five signings so far are very, very League 1. They were creaming their trolleys about signing Sean Clare on a free from Charlton last week.

Not unheard of given the East Stand was the away stand for the first 6 years, and was specifically designed as such. It has a much bigger concourse and even the car park behind it can be completely locked off so away fans could be bussed in directly to the turnstiles. GMP would be happy enough for the right price but I doubt Latics would risk the wrath of inconveniencing both of their season ticket holders.

Can’t we nick whatmough he’d be good option and the added bonus of winding them up.
