The Cost Of Living Crisis

Anyone felt the pinch yet?

Notice a good proportion of my hotels are quiet this week. But with the jubilee round the corner and pride the week after maybe folk are simply saving their trips for that.

Cant help but feel the media are driving a lot of it. They seem hell bent on us heading into a recession. Making people panic and stop spending.

They should be telling everyone its all gravy.

Only area Ive felt it is diesel. £154 to fill my van the other day. That's taking the piss.

Not while theres a shortage of housing

Might be a shortage but it’s getting unaffordable for most to get on to the market. Add to that the interest rate rises (with more to come), increases in household bills and I think we are headed for a number of people being unable to cover payments, leading to a sell off and a correction. I don’t believe it will be severe but 5-10% reduction could happen in the next 2 years.

390k mortgage in May with 100k down would have cost circa 1,400 PCM. Now it would be 1,800.

You’d think so! 3 bed semi!

:(

problem though is that folk need somewhere to live

Surely even if they cant buy, it just heats up the rental market

Or, i guess, pushes folk to look at areas they didnt want to consider..walkden, westhoughton for example

Are people really that desperate to get on the ladder?

Of course

They can see the profits people are making for basically fuck all.

You don’t think all those new Range Rovers and holidays to Dubai are being paid for by the monthly wages do you?

Are they fuck.

Have a look at how many remortgages have been taken out in the last ten years.

Propped up on debt.

Capital of the north now mate, it’s booming! Cheapest fuel about, no domed buildings, me a neighbour, Walkden whites what more do you want.

Wonder how much ours is worth now, Agreed to buy at 245,000 for it in August 2020. House prices have since shot up.

Five bedroom houses in little lever are probably quite in demand.. Sell up and get one with no mortgage..

£159.9 at the minute, they’re literally queuing around the block. Fair play to the owner

Diesel is down to  £1.88  at Morrisions  C O R

My LPG is still 79.9p a litre.

Costs £35 to fill and we get approx 340-350 miles.

BBC News - McDonald's puts up price of cheeseburger for first time in 14 years
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62317453

Was on lunchtime news. The interviewed shitloads of people who all said it was disgusting McDonalds had raised the price. Not one of them acknowledged the price of 99p (now £1.19) was set 14 years ago. Not a bad rise over that period.

Yeah I was surprised that they had maintained the same price point for so long. Always going to get the soundbites from this, but even at £1.19 it is still ludicrously cheap for cooked 'food'

You've got to ask yourself if they've not had to put prices up for 14 years...what the fuck do they put in it so they can still turn a profit.

That's why I've not had one for ages.

Can't trust these shady globalists.

That and I recently read if you have a big mac all you can taste is the gherkin and the burger sauce.

Blow Your Mind Wow GIF by Product Hunt

It's utter shite. When the world exploded into a fireball last week I did a bbq burger with cheese, gherkins and mayo, mustard and dill sauce.

Taste sensation.

Mcdonalds. I've shit it. Cost about 8 quid a burger though before we even factor in the gas.

Was only messing.

14 years is a long long time and it’s actually a fair question. It’s too big to be a loss leader etc. I had no idea they were so cheap still.

Have they put the chicken one up? That’s the only one I’ve had and that was about 10 years ago. (Prague, with a glass of wine. I may have mentioned it)

There must be so little beef in them patties it's unreal.

McDonald's in general is ridiculously cheap in the current climate. 'Cooked' meal deals are nearly on a par with sandwich deals at boots and the supermarkets.

And given nothing looks or feels 'fresh' I'm quite happy giving it a wide berth. It must be packed full of shit.

100% beef apparently.

Beef Patty

100% Pure Beef.
No additives, fillers, binders, preservatives or flavour enhancers. Just pure forequarter and flank. A little salt and pepper is added to season after cooking.

Edited by Cheese

Anyway, unless you’ve had andouillette, a French delicacy, don’t knock a Macca’s burger. Having said that, with a lot of mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato……..

No, it’s absolute shite.
