The Cost Of Living Crisis

Anyone felt the pinch yet?

Notice a good proportion of my hotels are quiet this week. But with the jubilee round the corner and pride the week after maybe folk are simply saving their trips for that.

Cant help but feel the media are driving a lot of it. They seem hell bent on us heading into a recession. Making people panic and stop spending.

They should be telling everyone its all gravy.

Only area Ive felt it is diesel. £154 to fill my van the other day. That's taking the piss.

Gardening in Bolton really doesn't give you you place to speak on this. You want to discuss commuter train travel, I'm all ears pablo

Self righteous dilusion again.

Now then, do your own research on the historical issues with British rail.

Then consider Japanese rail and French rail. Complete opposites of ownership models but still work.

As I said there will always be cases for both, but there is no positive indication that one supercedes the other. It comes down to attitude of the workforce ultimately.

Metrolink is a publicly owned, privately run business. Pretty successful too, and I used to use it daily- so I must be an expert.

Personal, patronising comments don't mean that I nor anyone else can't have an accurate view.

Fuel protests in progress I see.

we (2) went to a local restaurant on saturday

not central manc or owt, just a small cheap and cheerful type place in ainsworth, yet it was £90 for 2 and was all over in less than an hour

its not so much the price of eating out, its my perceived lack of value

a meal used to be a night out, now it just seems to be in, eat and fuck off, unless my experiences arent typical?

Stopped going carmelos for that reason they had a lounge area but it was full of folk coming for collections, I do like to chill for a bit afterwards, swan & cem is best for that as you can go in bar afterwards

Speaking of McDonalds, went in one in Manchester for a McPiss last week.

It was about midday

Queued up for a brew, and on the screen that tells you when your order is ready I noticed a load of weird order numbers.

Turned out these were for delivery drivers - when I looked round there were about 8 or 9 blokes all waiting with them hot food flask bags. The amount of bone-idle cunts ordering McDonalds at barely midday on a Wednesday is unreal. NOt only that, but they're happy to pay a delivery cost on top.

Crisis my arse.

There are never less than a dozen delivery drivers at the retail park branch in Leigh. Their profits must have skyrocketed since they started doing deliveries. They're always a bunch of ignorant cunts too fwiw.

I order a McDonald's at least once a week for lunch at home when I'm working. Mid-week treat.

You want to work in some of the back waters I do.

Its like clockwork. Kids off to School in a taxi, then the deliveroo boys turn up with the maccies breakfasts.

Always a lass in a dressing gown smoking a fag answering the door.

Cost of living wont affect that lot. Its the people that have to pay for stuff to earn money it hits.

It's not a dressing gown, it's a smoking jacket and a Gitanes

When @Not in Crawley does it, anyway

and always order a grilled wrap with coffee, gives an air of refinement.

Love a McDonald's coffee.

But last week the mrs ordered a Thai fish wrap from a local independant place. The neighbours started talking to us again after that to be fair.

McDs  have just started delivering from Middlebrook

Do Burger King do it too?

Few times on a Sunday I’ve used the delivery service for a greasy breakfast  especially after an all dayer somewhere

The last time I went in a McDonalds was about 10 years ago when we arrived late in Prague. It was the only place we could find open for food. They serve alcohol in McD’s there.
Chicken fillet burger and a glass of Moravian white wine at midnight in Prague is something to treasure.😊

The food must be cold by the time it arrives?

Not that it’s much better when it’s warm, like.

The bags they pack your food in are made similarly to an electric blanket and plug into the 12v supply.

Don’t order a McFlurry!

Gets my goat does that. Those on benefits are getting hit - throw more money at them.

Infuriates me they call benefit day as the day they are getting paid. I thought you had to work to get paid.

Sponge day more accurate.

I don’t begrudge help for those who genuinely need it through illness, lost jobs, caring for relatives etc but career dossers can get fucked

My Mrs joined the drive thru at the new one in Cleveleys and was met with about 30 cars in front of her. She ordered on her phone and drove home. The dude was there as she pulled on the drive :D
