Anyone felt the pinch yet?

Notice a good proportion of my hotels are quiet this week. But with the jubilee round the corner and pride the week after maybe folk are simply saving their trips for that.

Cant help but feel the media are driving a lot of it. They seem hell bent on us heading into a recession. Making people panic and stop spending.

They should be telling everyone its all gravy.

Only area Ive felt it is diesel. £154 to fill my van the other day. That's taking the piss.

We are mainly red drinkers, but like a bit white/rose in the summer months and fizz on occasions.

We have a wine fridge but it sits empty as we don’t drink white and we keep the fizz in the (food) fridge. Tempted to repurpose it as a tonic fridge.

Got 3 fridge freezers

2 in the garage

No food, just liquid refreshment

Freezer food? Absolute tramps

People with multiple refrigeration devices might be the new "first against the wall" I reckon.

We like food, we like cool beverages. 

We have five mouths to feed, and unless you are happy with eating crap, cooking up food, freezing and warming it up so you can all eat well is the only way.

I reckon L/W still has a larder like my Nana did. And and frying pan with lard that get cleaned every week.

Fresh not Frozen

If you weigh it up freezers can almost be justified but if you open your fridge and think about what you have in it we were all conned years ago and are just conditioned to keep buying them.

Open jam, open sauces, spuds, veg, salad, eggs, cheese, none of it needs to be in a fridge. Just seen some Toffee Crisp in ours. 

Suppose it keeps fridge makers in business though, and the lads supplying electricity of course.

Its also sometimes more cost effective to buy in bulk, batch cook and freeze. It is a cost of living thread after all

Eh? Where do the extra nutrients come from? Ice?

Worked with a Polish lad who swore by the whole "magic water" thing where if you partially freeze a bottle of water it becomes an elixir of life. Had magnets all over his body and conkers in front of his monitor as well but that's for a different thread.

I drink a pint of water from cooler in the fridge first thing every morning. Pish then pint of water.

I have no idea 

probably because there’s no benefit to freezing those but I don’t have a clue to be honest. 
not something that ever crossed my mind but it’s a good question 

Makes you wonder why we aren't all clamouring for frozen meat and frozen bread really.

Loads of frozen spuds available- just partly cooked first.

The frozen v fresh thing I suppose makes sense, but only if you're not eating your fresh stuff when it's fresh!

Oh, and if anyone is growing their own, by means of saving money, I've been offered another load of pig muck if anyone wants any!

Tis true. Watched a couple of programmes one on sweet corn and one on peas (interesting life I lead at times) and 24hrs is the optimum timeframe for getting these things picked and frozen
