Well, it's a bigger budget than Peterborough's. Maybe his did/does fancy a return to Bristol Rovers ... more or less now it's not Barton.

He's in his last 6 months soon & his value to Posh may have peaked.

I don't think we have an option to but with Maghoma, do we?

*option to buy

Charles?

Are you suggesting Charles just taps in. See Doyle before, we insist they are like Haaland. Nothing wrong on that front till you see we score far less than those around us.

It becomes a fair question.

Can't find any mention of it anywhere, so doubt it.

Not at all.  Scores some great goals - Bristol Rovers last season, Port Vale last month, Shrewsbury on his debut.  Doyle scored a few crackers too, we didn't see him at his peak but I'd back him to score given a scoring chance above many many strikers we've had down the years.

Both players justified the cost of signing them/higher wages because they score goals, and both have delivered.  If neither was scoring they simply don't do enough to justify a place in the team, IMO, not very good in possession and poor at holding up the ball.

Not convinced Rhodes would be the sort of player would want anyway.

Yep, we dont want a natural goalscorer!

Higher wages? I know Doyle was mooted to be on a lot but all was bollocks wasn’t it?

I thought we pushed the boat out to get Doyle from Swindon but I've no idea what any player has ever earned at BWFC.  So forget that bit, he was a good signing whatever we paid or didn't pay.

Yeah, I didn't think we did

Shame

No he wouldn’t come back to half way to get the ball. Goals are a secondary

He wouldnt get in the team ahead of Charles.

He couldn't play up front with him either.

Our problem is creating chances not scoring them.

He was exaclty what Blackpool needed, they were creating loads but nobody to finish.

Several seasons ago I'd have been delighted with Rhodes but didn't he snub us quite brusque a couple of times.

Natural goalscorers we have known include ALF and Klasnic. I'd rip your arm off for a modern one of those. However I doubt they'd fit the Evatt way.

No we don't but we have option to buy Ashworth

Who, aged 20, should be a good opportunity.

I genuinely don't understand the "option to buy" thing.

Doesn't every club in the land have an option to buy any player they want if they match the club's valuation?  And how does it work if Ashworth doesn't want to come but Bolton agree to pay £10 million for him?  What if Wrexham offer £10.1mil, do we no longer have the option?

Fee already agreed

Suppose it's up to bwfc and if player wants to sign

Complete opposite today! Although I generally agree with your point as I don’t think Rhodes would offer quite so much in general play as Charles or even Vic. Although we’d suit him more under IE than when we fancied him to play up top on his tod.

That's a strange one.  If we sent a 20 year old out on loan to a lower division club, we'd want to see how he did, how good he was, he could be a £100k player or a £1mil player (eg Tomo).  I'm not judging it one way or the other, just surprised a fee would be agreed when he's young and unproven, if I had to put a value on him I wouldn't know where to start without seeing more of him in 1st team games.

Anyway if he's any sense he won't sign because he's not going to be playing many games for us! (injuries permitting).

It's the try before you buy scenario.

He knows he's not wanted where he is .. but his club is giving him a chance to continue a career at a club, rather than being released into the wilderness.

We look at his potential,  he looks at whether he likes us, his club looks at maybe making a bit of money.

If it all fits, everyone's a winner.

During his time here it’s fair to say Evatt’s received a fair bit of criticism. Just a quick read back through this thread you see criticism around:

- Tinkering

- Stubbornness

- Set pieces

- Response to fan reaction

- Style of play

- Squad size & quality

- Meeting high expectations

Well this week there have been some really pleasing signs that not only has he stamped his imprint on our DNA, playing a brand of entertaining and effective football that is the envy of our competitors, but he’s also developing, changing and improving as any young manager with ambitions to manage at a higher level should.

The fact that he’s doing this with us and wants to achieve those ambitions with us is something which should be embraced.

For me those doubts listed above have had some real positive answers and evidence of late, to dispel, or at least show signs of improvement, that Evatt is capable of continually building and nurturing squads of players to achieve our ambitions.

His rotations and understanding of his players, his self-belief in his decision-making, his attention to detail on set pieces, his balance of fan criticism and praise, his options to change the way we will play and ask his players to evolve and adapt based on the opposition we are playing, have all been evident of late.

He has this relatively small squad well set and capable of meeting those high expectations. It’s a great journey which has a way to go yet.

Defo looks rosier after a 9 point week and long may it continue.

Keeps doing this then I’ll be delighted to say I was well off the mark on him.

Still not convinced we will go on a mad winning run. Think plenty more bumps in the road.

This league is gash though so I think we can afford some slip ups.

Thought yesterday was a complete performance and a couple more goals wouldn’t of flattered us.

Good thing about you pal and others like @radcliffe white, is you give credit where it’s due and are willing to re-assess and would be happy to be proved wrong about Evatt.

Believe it or not, I’m the same from the opposite end of the spectrum. He shouldn’t be free from criticism and those performances against Wigan & Carlisle should not be ignored. And like you I’m convinced there’s more bumps in the road!

But we are bonded by the ambition to see BWFC be the best they can be, to see see us win games, have great days like yesterday and to see us competing at the highest level possible.

At the moment we are all enjoying the ride! Long may it continue! 👏

No arguments there. Us being good and proving me wrong is a million times better than being probed right.

Changes the weekend when we are doing well!!!

Aye think most sane people are various points in the middle ground away from the micro analysis and what seems like overreaction on here.

Think we are all guilty of wanting everything here and now and in particular analysing to death the here and now.

Its a marathon not a sprint and all that.

We are up there punching and not even got out of 2nd gear year yet. Sqaud seem really together and the match going fans are still massively on board.

Be reet wont it.
