Of course they are counted and that's OK for analysis of its own, but if you don't also include them as an overall measure of passing then you can potentially get some skewed figures. Passing pressure free, sideways and backwards can make a false measure that doesn't reflect the overall quality of the approach. If those passes are also accompanied by a fair number of "attacking" passes and assists then that might reflect the situation more fully. The issue I've got is the potential for a virtual addiction to the statistical process, and perhaps losing sight of what everyone can see is the reality on the pitch. How effective his "coaching" of his fellow strikers is open to debate, but Dion is doing well with goals scored, and Vic has also got more than maybe we thought he would. I can get Cam's role as a mentor & potential coach. Even coming on in the final few minutes to play a holding role but he must be blocking other players. In fact, thinking about it - it does read well but it essentially says that the bits he’s good at is what a coach should be doing, and he’s alright when he’s on the pitch because he gives his all. So he’s no use as a player - pretty much what we all already know, and as Casino says he’s not exactly going to say it as such when asked.
