The problem with his pep lite philosophy is that he doesn’t evolve like actual Pep does. City now play more direct and with wingers where we still try v1 or whatever it is.

He’s like a bloke on champ man who has found a killer formation on the internet but doesn’t have the players to play it. But continues week after week hoping it will evolve.

This was all so predictable.

City have just lost 4 in a row.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

I think his football philosophy, or most of it, went a number of months ago. There appears to be behind the scenes unrest at the club and an influence or power struggle, coupled with that he appears to have lost most of the players, with some notable exceptions. Criticism of the players not training properly, when he is not there, well where is he then? Surely at the moment he needs to be fully visible to all.

He also does not seem to be able to alter the course of  a game most of the time. Leadership on the field has not improved. There seems to be some personality faults, with stubbornness, a short fuse, a touch of arrogance and an unwillingness to take the blame.

There is very little information coming from within ever since the Wembley fiasco, just snippets but nothing substantial. Which is really not helping the situation.

He either should be backed or sacked, this is not happening and is also unhelpful.

Where I am at the moment is that he will find this difficult to turnaround, although not impossible. There has been so much positivity over the last few years and this is slowly ebbing away. It is for this reason that he should go before the rot entirely sets in.

So long as we're in touching distance of the playoffs and promotion, he isn't going anywhere. Or at least he isn't getting sacked. Regardless of the football we're playing.

Maybe football is a sport, and sometimes 3rd tier players just fuck up. If they didn't, they'd be playing in the 2nd or 1st tier.

I think last season was our best chance but we blew it, automatic slot going and ending in play off defeat I think it took a lot out of Evatt. If he hadn't tinkered with the system early season we could be at least a couple of points behind first place but the performances this season have been below what the fans expect and for this reason he's fired!

The players are not the issue.....though some of them think they are better than what they are

just for the avoidance of doubt, the comment you quoted does not say ive changed my view

however, you are correct that i wouldn't be arsed if he was sacked

i still believe we may be promoted so its not that

i'm just not doing games when lots are people are just waiting for a chance to vent

its just not enjoyable going a goal behind and it being a reason for the abuse of every man and his dog to start

This was always my worry after the Oxford game in that it would not take much for the fans to turn against him and so making the match's not very enjoyable. This is why I think we should have got rid after Wembley

let us see  Williams Rwb  Cogley RCB Forester LCB Toal LCB

Shon has played most of his career as a winger and McAtee RM........They are asked to do a job as i say it is not all down to the players.

And he will change and adapt to sort it. Evatt doesn’t.

I’ve had friends come different seasons and are amazed the same problems exist.

You can read the players minds?

No even you can work out that is where each of those players have played this season despite it not being their natural positions.

Serious question.........Do you know anything about football or are you just a wind up merchant???

But you said the players think they are better than they are. That's what he's replying to.

What makes you say they think they are better than they are? Have they said this to you?

They ain't daft. They play in League One because this was their best offer.

IF we make the play-offs, we are going to have to hope we come up against two teams whose managers are arrogant to the point that they play their usual game and not bother with a plan of how to stop us.

If we come up against a side whose manager implements a plan like Oxford's manager and that fat cunt Steve Evans did then we are fucked.

All I know about football is from watching Wanderers since 1990, and England on TV now and then. You claim you can read football players minds. Enlighten us. How do you do that?

The idea is the try and make them be the best 3rd tier players so we get promoted

Exactly. Quite a few made this comment over the summer, and it would have been the break we needed to bring back some optimism.

I wasn't looking forward to this season for exactly this reason, felt inevitable it was going to get toxic at some point.

It's a fair point.

I think Iles is looking at it from a slightly wrong angle

I'm not sure it's simply a matter of "top six" or local rivalry as such but instead a poor record in matches where there the pressure, and with it the consequences, is higher than a typical league match, which is perhaps a little harder to define and is probably more subjective

But it naturally follows that the majority of matches that meet that standard will also fall within "top six" or local rivalry

Spot on.  Its those games when there's an edge, when you have that feeling in the pit of your stomach that this game really matters.  Yes that tends to be the bigger local derbies or "6 pointers" but definitely isn't to do purely with distance or league position.  Fleetwood, Morecambe, Crewe, Accy will never be in that category, against them its more about avoiding the embarrassment factor than chasing a memorable win.  And with the best will in the world playing Posh, Lincoln or Mansfield even if they are top 6 won't have a big game feel to them unless we're in April and it becomes season defining.

Games v Wrexham, Huddersfield, Derby, maybe Bradford and Barnsley are bigger occasions even if they are further away, they are the type of higher profile games we'd be up for as fans, and buzzing if we won especially away.  These are the types of games we have a pitiful record in (without having to mention Wigan & Blackpool), and no amount of beating Accy and Fleetwood makes up for it.
