Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

I’d not be surprised if 5 if not all 6 of them didn’t finish above us even with Evatt as our manager. It’s very possible we finish in the top 2 with or without Evatt.

Absolutely no chance we are getting top two with Evatt in charge. Our best bet would be to limp into the play offs and lose to someone without giving ourselves a chance. The squad is good enough with one or two tweaks and a new manager and system. That is the really frustrating thing.

Change to slightly, and I might agree.

We'd need to go on a very decent run, and those above all drop off quite a bit.

I drifted from the 'just about keep him' group to the 'just about time to go' group after Saturday.

We will pick up points between now and Xmas so, if we persevere (seems likely now we will), then I expect us still to be in touching distance. As Evatt himself has said, the points totals will be lower. Wycombe, Mansfield, Lincoln are doing well but their squads will be tested as the season goes on. And we are in the midst of an injury crisis right now.

If he stays, i think we should expect one or two more 'beatings' this season, but he will have us around the Play Offs regardless. Totally get that might not be enough for some. But the only thing that matters, whether we like it or not, is how comfortable the investors are about getting a return and how long they are prepared to wait.

I imagine this will all be reviewed now around Christmas (transfer window). Defeats to Wigan and Blackpool may speed things up, but if we're 'around' the top 6 come Xmas, he'll be here for the season i expect.

And I assume SB does too

Dunno about her but I'll reassess on Jan 2nd

I'm not sure on that. We've had a relatively east first quarter of this season and we're 10th. The next quarter looks tough as it gets and I can't see us picking up more than we've averaged so far. I can use being a good chunk off play offs come Jan

A good post, agree with most of it.  Just on the "injury crisis",  at Stockport we had 8 defenders in the squad, of which 7 played, all 1st team material and signed by IE.  2 first team keepers.  5 midfielders if McAtee is included when we only need 3 at once, all 1st teamers signed by IE.  4 strikers plus Lolos, supposedly worth about £4mil signed by IE.

I'd be surprised if there's been a time in the last couple of years when we've had more availability, we don't even have any suspensions yet.

Pretty much where I am, it'd seem Evatt knows he has SB's backing to end of season as long as we're in the play offs mix throughout, even with another few calamitous bumps in the road along the way.

League is so tight we'd have to go 6 or 7 without a win to drop into the area where she might get really twitchy.

What I'd be really surprised by would be that, if we carry on in 3 steps forward 1 big one back mode through Nov and Dec, and Evatt asks for another wedge for Jan window, for the improvements he reckons are needed, someone supposedly as sharp as Sharon shrugs her shoulders and lets him have it without serious question.

Do not let him have any more money. He’s wasted enough.

We shouldn't even be having a conversation about "As long as we're in reach of playoffs" and "we'll pick up points to keep us up there".

We should have gone up a couple years ago and we should have definitely gone up last season.

And don't forget we can get Morley back in january, he's the new Zidane according to some

Our manager couldn’t get a tune out of zidane, messi and Ronaldo even if he had them.

Not unless any could retrain as wingback.

The injury crisis you talk of is of Evatt making  Firino, TuTu, Gomes ,Dempsey and Baxter all signed with issues at previous clubs.

Even Southwood was signed with a Broken leg...ffs you could not make it up!!!!

Ronaldo would not get a game because he is a winger

True, and I'm not using it to defend him. Just saying that the club may look at it objectively and decide they'll give him chance to get results with a fully fit squad. Of course, he may never have a fully fit squad but we can discuss that in a few months.

Ultimately, we have to accept the decisions the board make (or don't make) whether we like it or not.

Evatt would argue it is 'who' is missing i guess, as well as just the numbers...

... agree with all you've said. I think the injury crisis is perhaps me putting words into Evatt's mouth.

And you're right. If we pick up suspensions in Blackpool game, and suddenly find we've got no Matete, Dempsey or Thomasson, we're in a spot of bother.

Don't know he could have Messi and Ronaldo as wing backs with Zidane as a lone striker

Sadly you are right. As I don’t find booing and calling for heads productive I’ll just have to vote with my feet. Only problem is that I don’t go and some fucker asks for my ticket deeming my mini protest worthless😂

Im disappointed the board are going to write the season off.

Fair enough if you don’t want to go. We can all choose to go or not go. Personally would keep going if we were playing amateur football and Dougie Freedman was in charge, but it’s as much of a social thing for me these days as it is about the result.

All I’d say is it’s been far, far worse. Dougie, Lennon, Keith, Roy Mc, etc.

I’d probably keep going even if Owen Garvan popped up in the centre of midfield.

Whenever I see the thread title now, rather that it being a glorious football method, it seems more of an action.

Remember season tickets are that cheap it doesn’t matter if people go.

more and more options to do other things means people will fall away.

the problem with the board backing him is it’s shit getting dicked in games being seen as big games (I know we are gonna be top 6 blah blah blah) is when he does go and we don’t improve pretty sharpish we could lose people

Fair play. The rest were all worse but this one is avoidable and that’s what’s irritates me.

No big statements but if something better is on for the weekend then I’m gonna start doing that.

He needs to go to save the season.

Bring back big Sam. He won’t fuck about.

I'd physically damage Owen Garvan if he appeared in a Bolton shirt again.
