Brand Evatt

We had a decent thread a while back discussing Evatt’s philosophies and approach to the game (think it got tainted and pulled)

So not a bad time to start it up again at the beginning of the season.

In the main he’s done a fantastic job. A minority lost patience round about Xmas/New Year in both seasons.

But surely now he has the large backing of the majority of fans and the brand he talked about implementing here is now well and truly established.

Good article above highlighting how he’s using Sport Science to get the squad performing to it’s optimum level.

A young, meticulous, intelligent and passionate individual, who we are very lucky to have leading our club.

I hope he gets what he deserves with promotion to the Championship.

All the analysis and data aside, I just don't get how the board can seriously be sat thinking anything else but that change needs to happen. And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change

So nothing happening today by the looks of it.

It’s such a shame we are going to have to keep on this road. It’s gonna get really shitty. Then a full rebuild of relationships and the squad be needed again

if still here got some interesting fixtures ahead

Blackpool (h) - local derby

Cambridge (a) - should be winning

Mansfield (h) - currently play off contenders

Bristol Rovers (a) - should be winning

Wigan (h) - enough said

Wycombe (a) - currently top

Barsnely (h) - currently play off contenders

Lincoln (h) - currently play contenders

Mansfield (a) - currently play off contenders

7 of the next 9 are the types of games up to NYD are the ones we often struggle in

here's hoping them honest conversations have had the desired effect

Hope not.

My hope is that they are waiting until there is something concrete and proactive to report.

That would fit with the way FV have operated in the past.

I think we all know what the majority of us are hoping that will be now.

One thing I don’t agree with is the overload of criticism and personal crap flying Sharon’s way on social media - some folk are the pits.

Unfortunately that’s the way of the world now the keyboard warriors love it !!

Interesting. My info has largely backed the notion that Sharon (and her alone in some circles) is his biggest advocate and reason he’s still here.

I have heard similar.

She’s definitely his biggest advocate. And fought his corner post Huddersfield.

I don’t know the detail of Casino’s post, but a power shift won’t help IE.

And if they think that Evatt can be the one to change things around then they themselves are also incompetent at their jobs.

Sharon comes from a good place and I do agree with managers being allowed to have time. But in football you have to make proactive decisions or get left behind.

Circumstances slightly different yes, but Evatt had been in charge a year longer than Kieran McKenna had when he came into the job at Ipswich when we were both competing in League One(we finished above them in our first season back in League One).

On Saturday Ipswich beat Tottenham away in the Premier League where we got beaten 5-0 by Stockport County in League One

And Ipswich are not just an anomaly.

Des Buckingham at Oxford, only managed in India and Australia before managing in England properly, he exposed Evatts style for the whole world to see at Wembley and in that video. John Mousinho at Pompey another one. All those managers just as young and inexperienced as Evatt have all had less time than him and got their clubs out of this league.

And look now, there's another 2 coaches sitting in the top 2 of League 1, way above us and just as young and as inexperienced as Evatt, Matt Bloomfield and Chris Davies.

Evatt is playing the same formation and style since we played Ipswich last in League 1, they're in the Prem and we're still playing the same style. My biggest gripe with Evatt is we don't ever appear to LEARN and ADAPT.

As fans we don't need any more signs of a manager that has reached the end of his limits. And we certainly don't need more excuses. He's already blamed the players, fans, illnesses, a mysterious dark cloud since Wembley, opposition players for winding him up and getting a 3 match ban, and it's only November!

We've all had enough.

That's all very well but if we get rid of Evatt there's nobody else around that could do the job 😀

I think he's done a decent job overall, but you'd think he was Allardyce x Rioch the job security this guy has. Not a third place finish in League Two three years ago.

I believe they are all shit hot at table tennis.

There will be players that just don't like table tennis.  Hopefully they can bring in alternative games, like the last day of term at school.  While Dempsey, Tomo and Toal are doing sprints, drills and set piece practise those less keen to improve their game can bond over games of Scrabble, Cluedo and Mouse Trap.

I’ve given up on him going. Genuinely didn’t give it a 2nd thought. I have a theory (no itk or proof) that we will have to wait till it’s mathematically over till he goes which will be some time off.

Its strange that Evatt has brought up the seemingly bad attitude after a defeat, we have won 6 from 8 in the league so it seems poor show to call it out after a defeat and one where players were reportedly poorly all week.

That's what I was getting at.

If things were so bad, why not say so previously.

Don't have to give names etc, but just a general comment, and explain that some changes may be necessary.

Playing the same lot, then saying they were ill, seems like an excuse.

Then slagging off their attitude, even if its right, just seems to compound the issue.

Hope not- that effectively writes the season off.

Hardly the action of a board wanting/expecting promotion.

Who knows!

Not wishing to tempt fate - but have we lost at home to Blackpool in the last few decades?

They don't strike me as a bogey side and beating them 1-0 with a (rare for us) 2nd half winner was one of the highlights of the season.  They've scored 1 goal in their last 4 games here in last 8 or 9 years.

Blackpool away is a different matter entirely 😀

Not sure about that now that there’s outside investors.

It only takes one of them to question her loyalty and she will have to justify him not going.

Which will be a very difficult decision to justify.

Sure. No proof so it’s only speculative. It will manage my expectations though

Evatt stated his aim was to get us to the championship I feel he now needs to come out and tell us when, he has been building this side for this outcome but we don't look like going up this season, he has been given money to spend as well this season so how long does he want before he puts his hands up and admits his failure

premier league within 5 years was his ambition. About 4 years ago, if memory serves me right.

Draw think best result for them when evatt scored from a corner he even fucked that up for us 😂

You've just tempted fate.

Hopefully not!  But if I was having a bet I'd say we'll come out fired up for that one like the Reading game, and just be better than them on the day (like the last home game v Peterboro).  Tempting fate even more now, but I think IE comes out of that game and Cambridge away with 2 wins and back in the top 6.

Rotherham not now till Jan, maybe neither Evatt or Evans fancied playing it just now
