  • We're being gaslit into mourning here, football fans absolute low lives as usual. It's a disgraceful decision, a unilateral decision compared to other sports. "They'll take it, they'll go watchin

  • It’ll keep the drama queens and doom nonces happy for a few days.

  • have some commone sense she died yesterday events have been called off today what does cancelling the whole wekend acheive?  is everyone meant to stay at home for a day of morning

It will already be decided, talk of discussions are purely because they don’t want to be accused of insensitivity by announcing so soon.

Very much expect all games to be off this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and everything off on the day of the funeral too (presumably next Saturday - maybe shift all the games to Sunday?)

That's a scary and perfect logical possibility.  Going to Tenerife that Sunday and I've not missed a home league game this century yet, this is worrying.

Be surprised if it is on . Announced the country is in a state of morning so can’t see football being played at the weekend

10 days of mourning apparently.     So does that mean we would have 3 games pulled ?

And would Doncaster be ok with this ?

Nobody is listening to the man itk

Surprised that the EFL have taken the lead on this one tbh. I’m supposed to have a game in 11 hours under Premier League jurisdiction and still none the wiser but I expect an announcement by probably 10 this morning confirming everything off this weekend

Bollocks if I’m honest (and that’s not because I’ve bought train tickets)

Look at West Ham last night that would be like most grounds this weekend much better way to show respect

Weekend of the funeral i totally get

This is interesting (if true, journaliste and all that). Anyone with a big injury list or teams out of form might be up for a call off.

This is buck passing at its finest/worst, if it happens.

PL/EFL need to earn their coin and impose a blanket decision ASAP.

I’m going for bollocks on that one. DMB U21s are off tonight despite the first team playing last night

It would lead to total and uncertain chaos.

Then again, it is a very EFLish idea.

Irish FA have called off all games

We are waiting for VAR

Would it be virtue signalling to call off the games?

Fwiw, and tbh, i dont have a horse in this race, i think they should be off

Im damn sure fixture congestion shouldnt be coming into it

It shouldn’t be but it is, all about money now.

It'll cost the country a fortune to call the games off. Cheltenham will have to refund at least 700 fans who won't make the midweek trip. Pubs will miss out on beer sales, taxi companies miss out on fares, hotel rooms getting cancelled - multiply all that by say 40 games around the country.

Add on to that theatres, other sports etc and for what - someone's 96 year old grandma has died

Funeral will be Monday 19th so no direct clash.

She wasn't just someone's 96 year old grandma though.

Sometimes in life you just need to keep your thoughts to yourself.

She served the country for 70 years, small price to pay.

I dont think so... its respect and how it should be.

I just don't see why sport should be cancelled. Yes, she was a good queen but what good will it do? Are we incapable of showing respect while at a game?

I'm done with away days if this is off

Easy to say call off for those not going

money down down the drain

Hope it's on.

If not , it's no great hardship.

I agree that sport shouldn't be cancelled. In a way it'd be great that hundreds of thousands of people can all gather and show their respects.

That said, it's a bit distasteful to say they shouldn't be postponed just because she's someone's grandma.

Leave things on.
If people want to stay at home as a mark of respect, let them do that do.

Let us at least have a choice.

I’m sure the Queen herself would want Sport to continue this weekend.

Lets crack on & let each venue show it’s own mark of respect.

What better way of unifying the nation?
