Just 4.9% of Ballymena’s population is non-white, according to the 2021 census, and very few of the new arrivals are asylum seekers, yet there is widespread belief in proliferating “scrounging refugees”, and scepticism about official statistics

That poor Northern Irish community being overrun by immigrants 😉

I think much of the problem seems to be that no limits exist.

If the government said , for example, Ballymena needs to house some refugees but it will be capped at (insert figure), then I doubt most would have an issue. Some would, but not enough to cause issues.

The problem now, even if it’s only a perception, is that the numbers just keep growing.

It can be managed differently.

But when Angela Rayner says they have to be spread evenly across the country there is uproar.

Unsurprising. Better that she isn't allowed to say anything at all.

Agreed. Has to be.

Love to see a couple of houses made free in the heart of the Cotswold 😉

This community could be told they’re only taking 2 families a year & the thugs would still target them though. There’s no pleasing these kind of pricks.

The fact an MP then went on to share the location of innocent families & kids in hiding is frightening. Dangerous precedents being set if he keeps his job.

Trouble with that though is say half a dozen families are placed in a certain place and they integrate without issues, would the powers that be not place another half a dozen families there, then another then another until you've got a problem

If they cap it, then no.

genuine asylum seekers should be welcomed and taken care of. Chances are they’ll end up working, paying tax, contributing.

the hundreds of young men on the dinghies are seemingly just being left to their own devices and let’s be honest, that’s almost certainly not going to lead anywhere decent.

every town and city could easily cope with small numbers. Banging a thousand in a hotel is fucking horrible for all concerned.

Let's not forget plenty are here on order.

They aren't here to work and contribute.

The thousands of Vietnamese that have come over aren't here to do shift in Tesco.

They are here to cultivate skunk farms with nail bars as a front to launder the cash.

Same goes for Albanians who are currently on their way to dominating the UKs cocaine market.

The NHS and what they are given is the draw to plenty.

It's a racket and far beyond helping genuine asylum seekers and families running from wars.

Ireland will go off big style at some point and no doubt it will here again. It's just waiting to happen :(

100%

You occasionally see images of women and children in the boats but I’d be amazed if it’s above 10/15%

Slavery is a massive issue. Like you say, there’s thousands here that have been trafficked and they’re not getting jobs at Asda or going to night school.

The Albanians have had an easier ride and it’s because they’re not very brown and are getting here in other ways. But they’re probably more dangerous than Afghan Ali who genuinely just wants a job and a roof over his head.

Who’s buying all the cocaine as well ?

Every fucker. It's fucking rife.

They pulverised the market by having 24 hour runners earning fuck all.

They cover vast areas too.

So instead of some lads in the local having to fuck about pre ordering or waiting for their mate to message back they send one message and it's delivered.

I get that mate

maybe we need to come down much harder on those funding the mess. If it’s causing a rise in violent crime, people smuggling & the like, then maybe those buying should be treated a bit harsher. They’re complicit in it after all.

Or you legalise it

It was the Labour led Oldham council who voted to ask the government for a  public inquiry last July. It was rejected. I’m guessing Oldham council know more than most, including anyone on here and anyone in America

Let’s remember how this all started. The original inquiry didn’t go far enough. Simple as that.

Indeed.

Like I've said before there's too many people making a hell of a lot of money to stop the boats or illegal migration.

The gangs arranging it in Europe, the boat sellers, the lorry drivers, the life jacket suppliers, the hotel and HMO owners, the Turkish barbers, the car washes, nail bars and their landlords, the drug sellers and runners, the cheap labour gaffs, builders, textiles, etc etc

The list is endless. There's too many people making too much money and the government and their handouts are complicit also.

What a huge mess it really is.

13 years of miss management hasn't helped either :)

....re the folk buying 3 for £100s on a Friday night, if they didnt use the albos theyd use someone else. The albos have just swamped the market. Same as the skunk market and the Vietnamese.

You'll never win the war on drugs. Ever.

My lad was at Parklife yesterday.

Said the bogs were full of condoms that people had used to smuggle drugs in with stuffed up their arse because of sniffer dogs.

80,000 people and it’s a fair bet half of them were off their chops.

The war on drugs is like taking on the Chinese army with a water pistol

I knew a lad who did the same at Kendal Calling festival. Condom partially tore as he put it in & ended up with two E’s straight up his arse. Off his chops before it had even started.

Could have been worse to be fair

Indeed

And the line at the time was that the Jay report was sufficient and that instead of a specific national inquiry into grooming gangs all that was required was that the report's recommendations were implemented and some funding be provided for some local, but non-statutory inquiries

The audit was then commissioned on 16th January this year when the scandal was front and centre of the news cycle and the government was facing criticism for the above stance

The government now has an opportunity to properly deliver justice (to the extent that justice can be delivered) and let's hope that opportunity is taken

Bypass his first pass metabolism as well! He'd have been absolutely leathered! 🤣
