I haven’t used the NHS much over my 62 years, thankfully, but I’ve had a couple of issues at the same time over the last 4 weeks and, having called 111, being hardly able to breathe, went to A and E at 03.30, last Friday morning, worried and scared.

12 hours later, I left with a (probable) diagnosis and a treatment plan.

It took a while, but to go straight through, with various tests along the way, has made a huge difference, hopefully, to my health, but also to our peace of mind.

After A and E, I went into BCAU, which is amazing facility, with all the facilities, it seems to me at least, to take me in, or send us home with a treatment plan.

It also helped that the people were helpful, and really caring.

Really impressed and proud to have such a facility.

Our NHS is the greatest establishment on gods green earth.

It should be protected at all costs and those on the front line paid what they deserve. A different level of people.

Had to go with both my wife and sister regularly over the last few weeks. Nothing but praise for all involved at Royal Bolton. 

Not seen you for ages BD. Wishing you a speedy recovery 

I was there last summer.  The staff and care there, were superb.  The less said about one or two in the waiting room, the better.

Once you get through the hoards waiting and get seen to (that’s a whole different debate) it really is incredible.

seem to be there every other week, with the mother nothing but praise for the nurses ,doctors and all staff. get pissed off seeing people on deaths door and the reception entrance choking on the fags, coughing the lungs upand shivering,and the dead legs in a & e, who have nothing wrong with them

Was in a&e recently and this weirdo arrived looking reasonably smart but very furtive. Had a small bandage on and went up to the desk. Hadn't booked in or anything and just asked for a plaster. Got one and had his minute in the limelight then fucked off, only to pause at the window and peer back at the waiting room for a while like a stalker.

Yeh, had a number of trips up to my old mam in there a couple of months ago. She didn't make it (after a fall in her Daisy Hill home she still occupied, with carers visiting, despite being 96), but praise abundant to those on the dementia ward (which through no fault of them, or indeed the patients involved, was like a hell on earth - God alone knows what it's like to work there). I missed her final hours as I was due to head up when I heard, but much credit to the staff who supported my brother who lives (a bit) more local, and to the help they gave her despite it coming to nought.

I’ve carried a massive chip on my shoulder over the treatment of my dad when his life ended there a while ago. Not their fault at all that he died but the treatment and care was utterly shameful. Mother is 86 next year and I do worry that at some point she will go in there for whatever reason so it’s really good to hear positive stories that the care in there is good

If you can avoid the last few weeks or months being relays to and from hospital do so

It might be a life shortener but its worth it
