How much would the fees paid to agency nurses (some on 3x their NHS colleagues have funded)

Like ive said, at heart, im a tory and with that, I see things have a value

Nurses see themselves as worth more than theyre getting paid

Until we up the pay, it seems more will leave, to be paid over the odds as a 'temp'

The GP service faces the same challenges.

How can it be that its preferable to be a locum, rather than being a partner in a practice

Say We pay the nurses what they want tomorrow, how does that get that ambulances back on the rd doing the 9 jobs a day they used to do?

It doesn't - for quick impact put the money into social care wages so they can stop losing staff to aldi get people out of hospital

Fuck me. 12 years of mismanagement, and you're asking how a simple change would fix it overnight 🤦‍♂️

what would you suggest fromage. And point to note, winter problems for the NHS and most European hospitals haven't just happened over the last 12 years.

It isnt one thing that needs doing...ive said numerous times that what would see the biggest improvement would be clearing folk out asap

But maybe we could open some of the numerous wards that are closed at nights and weekends

And dont forget, for every agency nurse we could have 2 nhs nurses and still have cash to spare

Frankly, if there wasnt a nurse shortage, i wouldnt be arsed about what they get paid (sorry Kent) as its just more tax i will have to pay...its just so obvious that we are going to have to up their money considerably

8 this year, 8 next, something like that, then we see if head count is going up

But we have a problem now where we can’t get ambulances out to genuine cases. How would you suggest fixing this. Paying nurses what they want as you said yesterday wouldn’t fix this immediate problem

An ambulance costs around £80k fully ready to go.

staffing it probably costs another £10k per week.

Quick sum tells me that the £350million per week we were sending to the EU would buy over 4,000 ambulances. Then we could staff them all year and still have enough money left to build 40 hospitals and give all the nurses a 20% pay rise.

I can’t believe the government haven’t already sorted it, to be honest.

They don't want to sort it.

This is all going to plan.

I’d say double that at least.

Anyway you’re not getting 4k ambulances tomorrow or the staff so how did we fix the problem? How do we stop those excess deaths a week?

Go on. What would you do? Expect the same people that have been in charge for 12 years to sort it out?

£365,000,000 per week, is £113billion over the last 6 years.

Can buy a lot of kit and staff for that much.

Money solves all when invested correctly.

Theyve had  time

You keep saying that. I have, and you've said nothing of any substance. You just ask everyone else what they would do.

I’ve said what I would do, now what would you do? Tell us, you’re in charge, people are dying, ambulances can’t get out to them, what do you do?

It does yet we would probably still have a winter problem like we have had for decades. How do you stop/reduce these excess deaths that are happening? You’re in charge. Go.

I’m not a government.

They’re there to deal with issues that come along.

I’ve told you how I’d deal with it - use the money from Brexit.

Forget Brexit and who’s in power. We have a problem now. The money won’t fix the problem overnight, you seem to have a view on everything that’s posted on here so give us an idea of what you would do or do you just criticise?
