Plenty of posts still open too. Yet demand still goes up. Are we a nation of unhealthy fat cunts, addicts etc? Population growing too fast to cope? Bizarre. Quote

Yet we are still a long way behind most other developed nations for doctors per citizen. https://www.theglobaleconomy.com/rankings/doctors_per_1000_people/ And our population growth isn't particularly fast. https://www.worlddata.info/populationgrowth.php Quote

Our bodies have a useful natural life span of 55ish yet ever more complicated science can keep us alive a lot longer. Quote

More a case of needing to improve our systems for coping with more older folk. Social care is the main one for me, it's slowing nhs performance as we know. Ultimately, one way or another, people are going to have to pay more into such provision. Quote

My mums last few years alive were a daily routine of about 20 pills and being checked out by medical folk. Most of the time I couldn’t fault them, sometimes it was a shitstorm but 99.9% of the people were amazing. At one stage she was on a cancer drug that the NHS trust had to approve because it was still a new drug and cost a fortune - one doctor said each tablet cost about a grand but that wasn’t an exact figure. I imagine the cost for the years of treatment had we been paying in America would have run into hundreds of thousands. But it’s what we work all our lives for paying into the system, so all fair.
