  1. Decent first day for Lancs to have Notts at 270 - 9. Surprised to see that they're starting the season without an overseas player but I suppose Anderson more than fills the gap for the time being until England duty beckons.
  2. I went there a couple of years ago, November/December 2011 and loved the place. The weather was about 20c in the north (it can get colder there at that time but we were lucky) and over 30c in the south. I nearly went back last year but decided to see somewhere new and travel around China. We started in Hanoi and then made our our way down to Saigon, stopping off in Hue and Hoi An. I would have liked have been able to get up to Sapa but we didn't have enough time. A trip to Ha Long Bay from Hanoi was one of the highlights, amazing scenery, we were fortunate to choose an excellent boat for the overnight cruise. We enjoyed everywhere we visited, I probably slightly preferred Hanoi to Saigon as it's less westernised but both were great cities to explore. It takes a while to get used to crossing the roads but you soon get used to it, just keep walking across and the motorcycles will all swerve around you. The only part of it I wouldn't be keen to repeat was our visit to a snake village on the outskirts of Hanoi. We had a freshly killed cobra but I wasn't over keen on it, especially drinking the blood and bile.

    Pratters

Mine too. Thought Spearing also played well
  4. Did Nashville - Memphis - New Orleans a year or so ago as part of a wider USA tour. Vicksburg National Military Park is good to visit on the way down to New Orleans if you have any interest in the history of the civil war. New Orleans was great for a couple of days but no more.
  5. Paul Hallows, Gareth Williams, Charlie Cooper.
  6. That was my first away game too, followed a few weeks later by my first away league game at Preston (3-1 win with a Francis Lee hat-trick I think?)
  7. Between 1961 and 1969 Northampton Town went from Division 4 to Division 1 and back to Division 4.
  8. -30c Levi,Finland. + whatever the wind chill was up on the ski slopes
  9. I don't go back quite so far but I've experienced a few of those generations. I've always loved music and I'd say there's more good stuff around now than there's ever been. That's probably due to listening to John Peel for a few decades and continually searching out new music. His sons show, Tom Ravenscroft, on BBC 6 Music every Friday is always a good source for new stuff.
  10. No he can't, at least not at Bolton Central. I just called in to get some for 6 Finnish lads who are coming over for the game and was told to come back next week as they aren't on sale yet, even though the website states that they are. I could have got them a 3 game package though. They seem to be on sale online so I'll order them there, problem solved.
  11. We had a helicopter trip a couple of years ago which all of us enjoyed. We were picked up at our hotel, The Luxor, and dropped off there after the flight. I think the trip in total from door to door was around 4 hours. We were down in the canyon for about 30 minutes where we were served a light snack. The company was Papillon. I don't know how they compare to other tour companies but we were all well satisfied with the trip. http://www.papillon.com/
  12. ESPN have it down for 12.00 on the Sunday http://soccernet.espn.go.com/fixtures?league=eng.1&date=20100901&type=month&cc=5739
  13. I hadn't realised he'd died, only 29 and he made 22 albums
  14. After a 4 week wait we had a bin collection on Moss Bank Way today
  15. Mcilroy lasted 18 days as Bolton manager in 1970/71 season
  16. It's a great place in winter but avoid it in summer, the mosquitoes are deadly.
  17. They also clear the pavements every day there but they know that they're likely to get snow and can prepare properly for it. Having said that, southern Finland hasn't had a lot of snow in recent years. Before last week there'd been very little this year.
  18. Best game at home since Pompey last season in my humble opinion.........
  19. I always thought it was in Delph Hill?
  20. pretty much so although you need to emphasise the double s sound. Finnish is a phonetic language with every letter being pronounced, like the double t in Antti (Ant-ti) etc. correct Finnish footballer pronunciations here http://www.sci.fi/~kajun/finns/1.htm
  21. It's very rare these days, before Brendan Nash the last one was in 1973. In the early days of West Indies cricket their teams were mostly white and they only had their first black captain, Frank Worrell, in the 1960s http://content-www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/51902.html
  22. I hope those few morons in the North Stand Lower take that on board, probably not
  23. I was at that game in 1972, I think it was a Saturday when the first team were playing away at Wrexham (?) The crowd in the 0-1 defeat against Arsenal was around 6-7,000. We had a fine youth team that year many of who broke into the first team
