  1. No wonder Rotherham get small crowds - every road leading up to this place is closed. Had to wade through mud to get here now I can't remember the way back to the car.
  2. I remember WH Smith on Town Hall Square had a display case of the video of the match in the entrance, for all the Bolton Reds.
  3. Anything to do with Councillor Morris?
  4. Holden played for Sheffield Wednesday today. Subbed after 60 mins
  5. There was a place in Blackburn in the early seventies - can't remember the name, but it was good.
  6. I was disgusted by the cheering from most of the crowd when Eagles was subbed. In particular a group of middle aged clowns sitting in the ESL near the join with the NSL gave him dog's abuse throughout the match. For me, Eagles did OK; he wasn't great, but he isn't the type of player that will always be great. Anyone who claims to be a fan and screams abuse at their own players should just stay at home, or go in the Flying F***e and scream at the tele. When I've paid good money to watch my team, I don't need morons abusing them right next to me.
  7. Good first post and great to see some optimism for a change
  8. I think he cost them £12m from Sunderland. Only got in the England team because of his price tag. Always seemed overrated to me.
  9. I remember an FA cup match against Wigan at Springfield Park in 1969 or 70. Can't remember the result though
  10. Just called the ticket office and you can pay on the gate.
  11. Tragic - sounds like he just couldn't stop playing football even though he knew he shouldn't.
  12. Only down side for me was the guy in the ticket office giving me seats right in the corner, even though I bought them over a week ago. Fabulous night, great Bolton performance, and fantastic fans. I'm sure I saw a Blackburn fan showing a yellow protest banner after our second goal. Couldn't see what was on it, though. Maybe they want Berg out already?
  13. Booing the ref for refusing to give Eagles a penalty?
  14. There was a kid of about eight waltzing around McDonalds at Middlebrook amongst all the Bolton fans on Saturday, before the Cardiff game. I'm sure his dad must have told him that supporting a "big club" like United makes him "special".
  15. Whatever happens, McCarthy is doing himself no favours by spreading these stories. If he does get appointed the fans will already be lukewarm because of his arrogant attitude. Lose a couple of matches at the outset and the pressure will start to build...........
  16. I quite like Knight for his tackling ability, but the way he ALWAYS heads or passes the ball to the opposition messes with my head.
  17. I thought his report on the Millwall game was one of the best pieces of sports journalism I've read in a long time. It proved to me at least that the guy can write, and that he has got half a brain. Unfortunately his need to keep on the right side of BWFC, and their manager, meant that he didn't start to criticize Coyle until the writing was on the wall in ten foot letters. We should expect a bit more independance from our local rag.
  18. I genuinely think he enhanced the reputation of BWFC by being such a likeable bloke. Unfortunately he had no experience of turning things round when it wasn't going well for him, and seems to have been desperately trying anything (eg, team coming out early after half time). Still feel a bit sorry he's gone, and he'll always being a legend for the goal he scored in the play-off final against Reading.
  19. I remember them doing that to us at Turf Moor on the opening day. And, years ago, at Maine Road. Bit unsubtle, isn't it?
  20. Can't wait to see him back; just hope it doesn't turn into another Sean Davis saga.
  21. Thought the stadium announcer (Colin?) could have done a bit more to wind the crowd up before the match started. He was half way through announcing the teams before I realised he was even talking. There was no atmosphere before kick off; the players started off at a low tempo, and that seemed to put everybody to sleep. I could hear the players shouting from the back of the ESL - that just shouldn't happen.
  22. For the past 36 hours I've been searching out news about Fabrice; just looking for a sign - any sign - that he is going to be OK. Come on, Fabrice, the whole world is holding it's breath for you!
