  1. Well put. I know the natural reaction was one of defiance after the bomb, but it must get into peoples' psyche.
  2. No. What do they mean? Is it something to do with the shape of the lenses?
  3. A genuine question (no ulterior motive); what industry were you in?
  4. Strangely, I'm warming slightly to southgate. He seems to want to utilise some of the players he's worked with before, and with the youngsters doing well, the continuity may be the way to go. After all some of these may struggle to get premier league game time, so someone who knows them and the system may be more successful long term. Don't see much for next summer, but later on who knows.
  5. I'll give you 50% of all voters; not workers. Its a vote like brexit though, an either or. An election is far more complex. As for unions- I agree entirely, its not how they're supposed to operate, but unfortunately, from my experience there's still a hangover from the old days. Often just a club for barrel chested empty vessels whose sole purpose seems to be antagonistic towards authority for no other reason than they can, and they get an inflated sense of self importance. I only ever worked with one decent rep, who genuinely helped when you needed it. He was straight though, and if folk were moaning or being unreasonable, he'd tell them. If they had a genuine case he'd help. Poor bugger would get loads of shit from members for basically not being (for want of a better description) militant enough or even a management pawn, even though he was actually being far more effective in his role. Just too blinkered to see it. Be great if unions would modernise.
  6. You were. I was a member but still heard comments to non members about how they'd be happy to take any pay rises secured by striking members, but without doing their bit. In fairness I can take that point, however, at times when I needed union support they were remarkably lacking and disinterested. Rather be supping with their mates. Wife was once told to go out, even though not a member.
  7. Discussions on the wireless recently; one Mon saying that internet shopping and quick deliveries, etc is pushing up the number of journeys and vehicles on the roads. If more folk were happy to do traditional collection at stores then many truck/van journeys wouldn't be needed.
  8. Unfortunately not always that simple Micky. At times I found it amazing how bitchy groups of blokes can be.
  9. SKD not controlling a pass? Who'd have thought it! In fairness I don't think that was one of the qualities that got BSA to bring him in.
  10. Was a truly wank decision.
  11. Quite like that. I don't mind the right to strike, but as you say a proper majority and not some bullying militant fucker, secretly pocketing shit loads of overtime, telling folk to go out because it gives him an ego boost.
  12. 28% over five years for opening doors with a button- must take some extra learning that.
  13. It will always have a special place in my heart though.
  14. Bang on. Was told to go on strike once by management- not for our direct benefit but in support of binners (supposed to help with relations). What a stupid thing that was. Never again. Militant, backstabbing, double standards shits. (Not all of them it must be said, just the majority).
  15. Beats zopiclone.
  16. Can see the concerns re the bowling, but let's give them a chance- not started yet. Overton being mentioned- he's a bit more aggressive isn't he?
  17. Remember playing in a remembrance day parade at Stretford as a kid. It was pissing down and bastard freezing. A soldier was stood rigid by the war memorial, throughout. I swear he didn't move. He must have been in a right state by the end. What a bloke; always stuck in my mind- reckon he wouldn't have minded a bit of 36°C.
  18. Giving up pay to fuck up others. Not exactly philanthropic.
  19. I was trying to gauge her thighs whilst they were showing her walking; reckon she could crush a bloke. I disagree slightly though, quite like an ample bosom which I'm sure she has.
  20. The wife was involved in gritting procedures for a while. I didn't appreciate the amount of technology and analysis that goes into it all. She gave a lecture about different frosts but for some reason it didn't quite sink in.
  21. Piece of piss that. Once played against a team from tanhouse in skem, in a five a side tournament. Lived to show the damage and was more than happy to return to Breightmet.
  22. Kinell. Lucky sods. Not doing them much good like.
  23. Special chop suey- you wouldn't know.
  24. Does it include off field activities etc? Thought they were leasing their old training ground to bury?- that'll yield tens of millions alone!
