  1. I see what you're saying but even the opportunity to get wages off the books (in full or part) and free up a place would surely have been of interest. Not sure what his value would be at the moment- is he out of contract in the Summer?- either way its not going to be a lot. IF someone did show an interest on balance we'd have benen better off giving him a free transfer, which would allow the other club the opportunity to give him a bit more to improve the deal to him.
  2. What I can't understand is why a bid for trotter was turned down. Unless it was just another piece of misinformation.
  3. Like it. They need to employ a shit manager though.
  4. If it was so vital we got the money and I'm sure he knew the score then can't blame the lad for thinking fuck it, time for a new venture
  5. Aty is good. Think I'd prefer the beeb to show one series before the other though, rather than concurrently.
  6. Root seems to be struggling to power big boundaries. With such a large total looming do folk think that Morgan and one of stokes or butler should perhaps come in before him. Give them a chance to get in whilst the rate is at a reasonable level. Just seemed to let the rate get too large and stokes and Butler have to go from the off which is very difficult.
  7. As its for sale, base it in the Liver building.
  8. Unless there are parallel universes somewhere that we can see, no one can say whether Alf will score more than Clough, or how a change of formation will affect things. It just feels very disappointing. Hopefully all will be well, but results will need to improve quickly or things could get a bit ugly again. Irrespective of whether ka had to sell clough, folk are still disappointed, and in the heat of a match if its going a bit shit, the crowd will start to vent its frustration.
  9. Always bugs me seeing Morgan not singing the anthem. Mind you some of the others seemed half hearted too.
  10. You bumped into Diane oxbury recently didn't you? Ranks the highest for me.
  11. There may have been an occasional game where Clough has been ineffective. But I think you'll find its not me that keeps saying it. I have constantly said he's wasted out wide and forced to defend too much- that will hamper his effectiveness. Like you said, not convinced by Alf either. I don't believe the lookman thing is irrelevant, you do fair enough. True enough that players are only worth what folk pay for them, but we have to make judgements based on cases like lookman. Similar goal return in same league. It says more about the club's situation- if we weren't skint we'd have declined it, and waited for a bigger offer. Or kept him.
  12. Clough has a magical touch and good vision- can make up for lack of physique. Take your point, but still reckon he's worth more. A bid of over 5 million and I'd say fair enough.
  13. Absolutely
  14. Sure they won't, but ronaldo would cost a lot more than ten million. The value of Clough was taken from the Charlton lad going to Everton. Maybe he was vastly better than Clough, maybe not; but there's a huge discrepancy in fees.
  15. We all thought the last window was good, but only beavers, Taylor, and ameobi until recently are pp signings that have played regularly. These new guys need to be effective.
  16. Don't get that- why should he be any more unplayable than anyone else. Agree current plan isn't working, but that's up to the manager to sort. Perhaps he is with proctor and Taylor out but selling your top scorer and bringing in someone who arguably in poorer form is a massive risk.
  17. He's come back to tropical Bolton.
  18. Once spotted Gordon Jackson coming out of a shop with a loaf under his arm in london. Also Imelda Staunton and Jim carter at Hampton court castle.
  19. Really? Done quite well this season.
  20. Perhaps. We'll see what ken says then. Gonzo- think I mentioned at the time that when ken made that statement it was tantamount to inviting invites for Clough. Guess it depends what you think a massive bid is. Personally I think £3m ish is not massive.
  21. 100% agree. Madine is hardly going to score a panful, neither will Alf out wide.
  22. Think the umpire refers it.
  23. Deja vu this. Same argument made last year. No player should be put in such a situation. IF he has to be sold to save the club then KA has lied- We were told no one needs to be sold.
