We have acquired some very good young players. Enjoyed the match yesterday. One slight criticism was that there was some show boating in the second half before the game was sealed. We are in a proper game at Derby where we need to be fully focussed and on it.

He is a late starter in the respect of playing first team football. Last year went well, he was happy and signed a new contract. The change in system makes him less effective despite being tried in a few different roles. This year most of his good work is done in less dangerous areas. Clearly the system is not going to change which is causing him some frustration and he thinks he is losing some impetus. It is a shame he has to leave, he is technically very good and an entertainer.

The normally immaculate Lee slightly off the boil, Dempsey very good, Morley Superb, what a ball to the scouse lad. Toal very exciting find, best young defender in a white shirt I have seen for years. Better than Holding.

A striker’s form can change in a millisecond but Charles may as well be off the pitch

We have a few players out of form and some are being played out of position or moved around the midfield or front line. Trafford is showing signs of inexperience by not dominating his 6 yard box but he is a quick learner and will work through it. The young left back is looking a bit tired and leggy and maybe due a rest, as young players sometimes have to do, his positioning was poor on Saturday and put Gethin under some pressure, Gethin who is normally Mr Reliable has shown a dip in form. Sheehan is creative but lightweight, could be a better number 10 than out and out midfielder. The benefits of squad rotation and resting players will only be apparent in the latter part of the season, it would be interesting to know the squad depth of the other top teams. We were roughed up without protection from the ref, a similar watch to Wigan last season. I suppose the only thing we can question is that the back three is keeping our most creative player on the bench or when played he is not in his most dangerous position. Also MJ will be sorely missed in the next couple of games.

Though both Lee and Williams were magnificent. We really rely on Trafford not only to make great saves but also to mop up behind the centre backs, for a young lad he is a fabulous keeper. Over the last two games there are some slight concerns, especially when the wing backs are forward and the three centre halves are spread, then a clever player can find spaces for the forwards and pick little holes in our defence. I thought Bannan did this really well on Saturday.

The second yellow was not his fault. Refs and other officials do not understand backing in and very rarely punish the forward. Coupled with flinging yourself on the floor when there is hardly any physical contact, basically the attacker is stopping the defender from his right to challenge for the ball. Old timers like Fitzpatrick would stick his arse out and wave play on.

Dapo very skillful, classy and a cut above this league. Charles works hard and is a natural goal scorer. Baka holds the ball up well and his flick ons are more accurate, a much improved player. we haven't even mentioned the talents of Bod. Over to you Mr Evatt.
