Nice run in fixtures for Lincoln as well. They do play Pompey at home last game of the season but the latter could be champions by then. Toughest is the next game, home to Orient - who need to win to keep an outside chance. O's must be kicking themselves at having a poor start to the season, which I didn't expect given they'd have momentum from a cracking promotion last year. Thought it would be the other way round - start well but fade in the 2nd half of the season. As an aside, just looking at tables and Coventry are still well placed to sneak into the playoffs. Plus given the inconsistency of the opposition, a middling chance of beating the Filth in the FA semi. So three Wembleys in just over a month. If you look at KUMB, posts suggest half the crowd are tourists. Literally tourists. QPR are a local team for local people - used to live a few miles away in Acton. The history thing is interesting as time inevitably moves on. There's fully fledged adult Bolton fans who will start university next year who were not born when we played Guimaraes for example. Most older fans would be happy to go say that 29 years ago when we had the LC and playoff finals in a few months of each other is "recent" history that laid the basis for what came after. People would also realistically say you could go back another 30 years and Shankly transforming Liverpool has direct modern relevance. But another 30 years? Well why not; Herbert Chapman transformed Arsenal and the game in general - and he got that gig after setting Huddersfield up for the 3 titles in a row. So to a certain extent you can keep going and trace direct lines to the modern game. Thing is, maybe a good starting point then is the 23 Cup Final when a national stadium was built for the first time, 300k turned up inside or out of it, and we there. 100 years ago, but as i say you can trace direct lines to the modern game and modern clubs fortunes back to then. Thing is they can appear draconian in punishment while not really hurting them. They'll argue that the CL is out of their jurisdiction so they carry on that for that season; dock them an unusually high number of points (15 say) that will still mean they would qualify for Europa or maybe even CL; fine them a humungous amount that would cripple most clubs but that theirs owners can find in lose change behind the sofa; then say it's a "line in the sand" and the slate is wiped clean. They then just carry on regardless. The only thing that would really annoy the owners is if they were stripped of titles, but that aint happening.
