Maybe it was my inner masochist but sat and watched the Holland v England friendly, but really wished I hadn't. We looked mediocre at best (Again!!!) and will probably get turned over by a middling team (Again!!!) in the knockout stages of the World Cup. But in pennance to my soul I immediately put on the 1996 Euro Championships game and watched Shearer and Sherringham tear the Dutch apart. now that's how it SHOULD be done!!! Can't understand where it's all gone wrong, in my childhood in the 80s, we seemed to had half some decent teams, and if it wasn't for some blatant cheating and ineffectual penalty taking, history could have been a hell of a lot different.

Re:Casino, Don't think there's anything strange about what I've written. Been to four Bolton matches so far, wish I could've gone to more but ill health, money problems etc haven't really allowed me to. First match was the Bolton Legends match May 2016, then Bradford at home in the September of the same year. Next came Derby at home and Villa away last year. Hoping to get to Wolves at home in a month or so. In those three league matches haven't seen Bolton win yet (1 draw, 2 defeats), but if we can play as well as we did against Villa at home, we might get a decent result.

Aaah, this subject takes me back a bit, a lot of good memories. Whilst I was working at a car firm in Nottingham, the receptionist, who's husband was a Wanderers fan, loaned me and my mate a video of the 1990/91 season. What I remember most about it most was the grainy quality footage of the matches (The ones that the cameras were allowed to film at that is), and the first time that we were exposed to the legend that was Dave Higson (Or 'Higgy' as he was known at Burnden Park),!!!. By the way if anybody's got copies of any of the videos on DVD, I'd be very interested in buying them.

Bolton Legends Match, May 2016. Went with my great great mate Mossy who drove me up there and a good day was had by all. First match proper was a very disappointing 0-0 draw against Bradford, should have been a good one on paper though. Best match besides the Bolton Legends match was Villa away this season, brilliant atmosphere, good banter between the fans, shame about the result, thought we deserved a draw out of that one. Yet to break my Bolton duck officially, beginning to wonder if I'm a jinx, or are we just playing crap at the moment.

Re Manc Wanderer Not as bad as when I saw us play Bradford last season at home I bet

Yer soft southern shandy drinker, everybody knows it's neat Cilit Bang (Or a 'Barry Scott' to connoisseurs)

So sad to hear about the death of Jimmy Armfield. As manager started the Bolton Wanderers recovery in the early 70s, which continued under Ian Greaves and eventually took us back into the first division. R.I.P. Jimmy Armfield, footballing legend.

Would add Dick Pym and David Felgate to that list too.

Fooking hell, Bolton showing some chutzpah at last. Come on you Trotters!!!
-
It was emotional for the fans to see him, let alone play in the Legends match last year. There were a lot of moist eyes on the terraces that day, either that or there were a lot of onions being chopped!!!

I think the words of Harry Enfield's Yorkshireman character sum up today's performance: "I've got two words for that... shite" "And the other word?" "Shite"

Sunderland are winning...bollocks!!!
-
The way we're playing at the moment we should be booed back on as well!!!

About fookin' time. Good win for us and out of the bottom three, so hopefully onwards and upwards from now on, caaaaaan you dig iiiiiiiiiiit?!!!!

Re Dr. Faustus, Yes I do and don't call me Shirley!!!

If route one gets us the results we need, then I think I'd grin and bear it. I haven't thrown in the towel per se, just frustrated with our results so far. As for the run of seven unbeaten, some of those were draws snatched from the jaws of victory remember.

Re:Farelli, I'm on a very limited income so have to watch my pennies, also live miles away from Horwich. Must be a complete sadist to watch and support Bolton, but will carry on supporting them no matter what.

Was thinking about going to the return fixture at the Macron in April, not sure now. Not paying good money to watch this shower of shite!!!

Best Wolves v Bolton memory, learning a plethora of new swear words from Neil Whatmore, after his perfectly good goal was disallowed in '77 !!! Seriously though it has to be John 'The Enforcer' McGinlay taking no shit from David Kelly, got to say though he was a lucky boy to stay on the pitch.

Re frank_Spencer Totally agree mate. In the two matches I've been to this season (Derby home and Villa away), our defence has been clueless mostly. Haven't got much confidence in the goalie either. Any chance of getting Adam Bogdan back?
-
As my best mate's late father would have said (A born and bred Boltonian by the way) 'not woth a wank'!!!
-
FFS, can't we hold onto a winning score any more?
-
So another draw snatched from the jaws of victory. Pleasing that we're picking up points at last, just wish that it was the full three. Not sure how we'll get on Saturday, depends if we've still got our scoring mojo working Come the transfer window, we've got to sort our defence out. at the two matches I've been to this season, the defence was clueless, and that's putting it very politely!!!

To he honest you can find much more disturbing footage on YouTube than either the Faces or Traces Of Death videos, if you're into that sort of thing. One of the most disturbing things I've seen was the infamous Budd Dwyer live press conference suicide. What makes it even worse is that it looks like he was actually not guilty of the charges brought against him. There's a brilliant documentary of the whole affair called Honest Man, which is well worth a watch if you want to know more about it.
