  1. My folks once lived 3 doors from Colin Todd. His wife is a lovely woman and their no. 2 son is....how do you say.. a bit special. My mate once chatted to Peter Reid and reckons he's a top bloke as it was Reid that initiated the conversation (as my mate was wearing a Bolton top in Southampton.

Nine times out of ten, every successful team is based on clean sheets and a solid defence. When does he ever spend this kind of money on goalkeepers and defenders? He only spends shit loads on attack minded players. From memory......Jeffers (??10m), Wiltord (??13m), Henry (??10m-good value I admit), Reyes (??16m), Hleb (??10m) and now ??15m on Walcott. How about a decent keeper, centre back and replacement for Vieira?
  3. http://archive.thisislancashire.co.uk/2003.../30/514333.html Sums up Eddie Davies' financial input. Ploughed ??14m in over the years with ??2.25m in Dec 2003 taking his shareholding from 30% to 95%. Favours returned I think. I agree that most people's shareholdings were of little value (though Frank Hinks's wasn't from that article) which is why they got away with it. Think a lot of people were emotionally attached to the idea of owning a small part of BWFC and didn't like their little part being taken away whether they liked it or not.
  4. In return, he received about 98% of Burnden Leisure while the existing shareholders were f??cked over. I know a few who lost a lot of money on that "deal". We should be grateful to Eddie Davies but he is first and foremost a businessman who will look after his own interests before BWFC.
  5. A philosophy shared by our very own Big Sam. As long as it doesn't cost the club too much, not a bad philosophy to have. How many of Sam's poor signings have cost the club a lot of money? Jermaine Johnson? Jardel?
  6. The issue isn't who should be captain. Personally not sure that matters a great deal. I expect players to take responsibility especially at places like Old Trafford. Okocha always wants the ball and for that he will always have my respect. Captain Kev at Old Trafford went into anonymous mode. Something I reckon he's prone to do a bit too often.
  7. Perhaps his ability is on the wane. But one thing he does is never hide. At Old Trafford on NYE, he was always available to pass to and trying. Granted not much came off for him but you've got to be in it to win it. And the f??ckwits around me who couldn't see that. And yet cheer our reputed Captain Fantastic who was f??cking anonymous in the same game and thinks responsibility is chasing the ref round the pitch.
  8. Nah, Natasha is really Fanzantan.
  9. He's right about one thing. Sir Alex Ferguson but not Sir Bob Paisley? 3 European Cups as opposed to one (and a f??cking jammy one too). As someone else points out, the whole thing is a friggin joke anyway.
  10. What positions do they play? Didn't a Scottish club once have Lambert & Butler upfront? Or was that an urban myth?
  11. Isn't the transfer window worldwide i.e. enforced by FIFA? And that article.... didn't think he could play Champions League as he's played UEFA Cup for us? Or am I talking bollox?
  12. Visited the MCG in 1997. It was pretty impressive then. They've since rebuilt half of it.... This photo taken on the last AFL Grand Final Day.
  13. you're not taking this seriously, are you? :-"
  14. Adriano. Big Sam's bargaining skills could pull it off I reckon.
  15. The Laurel & Hardy theme always makes me think of the Burnden Paddock

  17. Pretty sure Brisbane is the only one of those 4 cities without a beach.
  18. The attendances tail off at Melbourne for days 2-5. Boxing Day will be the only sell-out. There will be a cracking black market for the rest of the series.
  19. The f??ckers have also started flying Liverpool to Porto. Only 3 months too late.
  20. One option which is minimal pissing about in England but pissing about in France. Ryanair are starting flying to Carcassonne from Liverpool. Carcassonne is about 180 miles to Marseille so hiring a car is probably your best bet especially if there are 4/5 of you. Tues-Sat or Thu-Sat is about ??125 return. Unfortunately no Weds flight.
