Glastonbury 2023

Didn't get a ticket but will be trying again in the resale. First announcement isn't mind-blowing but there's still plenty good stuff on there and I missed out on seeing Lankum earlier this year so that would be a must see. End of the day it's Glastonbury and there is ALWAYS sumert to amuse or inspire you somewhere on site.

You're going to have to go a long way to beat Phoenix in 96. Maybe I was just spoilt! 😁

Is it that good though? Is it not just because you were younger? Gene? Marion? Kula Shaker and Coolio?

Also Shed bloody Seven and Reef 😁

Out of that I'd have liked to have seen

- Bowie

- Cocteau Twins

- The Wildhearts

- Frank Black

- Flaming Lips

- Stereolab

- Leftfield (appartently the only album to play before buying a new stereo system..)

and the Sex Pistols for a giggle

Yeah - it's miles better.

Objectively miles better.

The Megadog stage on its own is better than the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

Dua fucking Lipa my arse! 😁

And there we will have to politely disagree, I think it looks a bit shit, loads more bands I want to see at this year's Glastonbury. I'll leave you to Dodgy and Skunk Anansie 😁

Ah is this another thread where @Not in Crawleytells everyone their taste in music is absolutely shit and all the weird and fucked up bands he's in to are really ace?

No, I said we'd politely disagree, doesn't mean anyone else has bad taste (I just know Kent doesn't like most of the bands listed) Plus I wasn't massively into the stuff Kent was on the Megadog stage at that point. All personal taste.

On the flip side, Kent did say that objectively (not personally) that its a better line up, so if you want to point the finger and who is saying someone's taste is poor then maybe start looking there rather than the person whose music you don't massively like.

Just sayin'

Unless of course you're a huge Dodgy fan, in which case I will go out on a limb and say they were one of the shittest bands ever to be shat forth onto the public.

I’ll raise you Kula Shaker and Menswear

Not a great line up.

last year was brilliant

not much I'd tune in for there

some folk moaned last year because they had no female headliners

I hope they haven't booked Shania Twain just for the sake of it

presume more acts will be announced

but right now I wouldn't even bother tuning in on catching up on iplayer for any of those except maybe LCD Soundsystem, and Paul Heaton if he does stuff from the 90s and Coldplay just out of curiousity as some of their songs are alight

wank though really

Got to.live a totally constructed pop band with winklepickers 😁

We’re all just getting really fucking old.

Thats what’s wrong here, lads.

There's loads of good stuff in that line up, maybe folk should just seek out more new bands to listen to? It's easier than ever with streaming.

Get a bit of Squid in yer life, or Thus Love or even the age old Fat Whites. Think I watch more bands now than I ever did when young, money and them always playing dead close and at smaller venues help.

My current favourite songs of the year so far... bit of PJ for you as well...

Also you won't be surprised to learn I got a decent record player again for the first time in years so spaffing loads of money on vinyl like the annoying London centric music snob I am.

Mind you, most of it it has gone on buying up QotSA back catalogue - and loads of second hand classical from dodgy record shops at Crystal Palace Market. I've been banned from going again until payday 😄

Dunno - quite a few I'd like to see

- Yard Act

- Squid

- PJ Harvey

- Paul Heaton

- Mannequin Pussy

- Baxter Drury

- Orbital

- The Breeders

- Fat White Family

- LCD Soundsystem

- Newdad

Plus there will be loads more added, anyway check out Mannequin Pussy if you haven't already - fucking ace.

I quite like that but I can't make a word out when she is shouting.

It's all very "FIFA loading-screen".

I think this guy is woefully missing the point!

I think given this thread he's hit the nail right on the head.

It's pop music and every stage covers so many different types for all sorts.

It should be for the young as well and even if you don't like Dua Lipa (which I actually do) she's still one of the biggest artists.

Just not into older folk trying to be curators of what's popular or good.

Yeah but I bet it pains you that Shania Twain is one line above PJ Harvey on that poster

Nah PJ Harvey would be a shit Sunday headliner.

Still interested how she's going to play Finsbury Park - I mean her latest album isn't exactly festival fuel.

Also Big Thief who I love, last time I saw them they told the crowd to shush!
