Leyton Orient (H)

We need to bounce back on Saturday after two defeats.

With Santos out I think Toal will show us how good he can play in the middle and with Sheehan hopefully returning we should get a win but then again it is Bolton Wanderers.

  • Poor teams, teams who bottle it, teams who have no backbone, teams who don’t have a winning mentality, teams who are shit, teams who can’t see games out and teams who turn off, don’t win games 3-2

  • Disappointed Charles didn't do the Bebeto baby celebration.

  • Sat between an Australian and a lady from San Francisco.  Both had never watched Bolton before.  That's what Shazza and Ian have done.  Massive group hug at the final whistle.

That’s the spirit!

2-0 win. Early goal and easy street.

forrester can cover the captain, but it may be iredale which ive no issue with, then lets get back to the tried and tested team that we know is better than the cannon fodder in this league

is there any news on JDB - he was clearly telling evatt it was an impact thing when he hobbled off on saturday, so thats good

Personally I wouldn’t make drastic changes, in the past IE has made big changes game on game it just unsettled the side

obviously Santos needs replacing which forrester can do and maybe Sheehan for Morley (but saying that Morley did fine so maybe unfair) other than that let’s roll again

im not suggesting we start afresh, anything but

i just think iredale, left foot, left side is the obvious centre back on that side and get williams back - he may want to swap a bit lincoln/fleetwood, but for me, this is back to basics, get points on the board against a team we are better than

1 point out of a last possible 9.

Can't let our great run be for nothing, need to get points now, quickly.

I think IE will be going for some planned rotation for games on the 23rd and 26th.  It won't be a case of players getting dropped, I wouldn't be surprised if he picks both his teams on Friday which only injuries/suspensions would alter.  Eg Vic starts Sat, JDB Tuesday.  At least Santos gets a rest, and plenty of rotation possible in midfield with Sheehan back.

I'm not as worried as some about our "bad run".  I still think we would have beaten Bristol if it had stayed at 0-1 and 11 v 11 till H-T, no way of proving it but no game can be judged properly when its 10 v 11 for most of it.  And the Pompey defeat was away at top of the table, no bearing on games v Orient, Lincoln and Fleetwood.  Pick anyone from this squad, in their recognised positions, and we should win if we keep 11 on the pitch.

We rarely agree, but....

Fwiw, i thought they were perhaps better than plenty of us expected

Must check who their 6 was

To my eye he looked like hes likely a prem kid

Prob never played above div 3!

A few of us commented on their no.6 (Finley) even before they'd scored, very tidy and composed.  Quick Wiki check, he's 31, correct never played above this league, from Liverpool, ex Fleetwood and Accy.

Almost certain mine and the boys ticket will be free for this if anyone wants em.

With a bit of a shuffle but same shape, i'd go with........

                  Baxter

Jones   Forrester   Toal   Iredale   Williams

  Dempsey   Sheehan   Thomason

       Vic            Charles

No problem with Cogley but he looks ready for a rest & Jones is good at RWB, Forrester deserves his chance, & Toal & Iredale would be in their best positions...a left footer to the left of the defence should be better than making Toal struggle on his wrong foot.

Dempsey ahead of Maghoma  for his all round game, as good as Maghoma looks, there's not much end product yet & back to what works upfront,.

This.

0-0

  • The title was changed to Leyton Orient (H)

Another mid table banana skin. Hopefully this time we'll negotiate it a lot better.

I think 2-0 and back to winning ways. This team has too much quality, depth, and determination to continue on a losing run.

A week of the usual platitudes followed by a 2-1 win and a merry fucking Christmas.

1-0.

Not many goals Ive celebrated as hard as that one, though it wasnt quite that late. The absolute definition of park the bus anti-football.

Ive always associate these with awful followings at Burnden Park whilst in the lower leagues.

I didn’t think they had ever played here but I’ve just looked and they were one of the first teams to do so!!!!

They haven’t played here since though, so surely should bring 500+ with cheap tickets.

4-4 in a cup game ?  can still hear them singing will you ever win at home . Bastards .

Well for whatever reason I’m back with my positive head on so a sturdy 2-0 win to the Whites and back on the winning trail. 🥳

O's fans are not overly confident although some are predicting a draw.

I asked them what they thought of their current team/style of play etc and "BasofthatLondon" came back with....

Our game is possession based with strikers that prefer not to score on a regular basis.

Our main threat is OG's and deflections.

..which made me smile.

TBF they won last week with 2 deflected goals - but at least they were having a pop without which they wouldn't have happened.
