Because they aren’t famous anymore, it’s the only bargaining chip they have now to get decent players. Site Supporter Steejay Posted April 29 Site Supporter Share Posted April 29 I really don’t get this FFP and salary cap bollocks. If some billionaires want to spunk their money up the wall, why not? If a club goes tits up through bad financial management, it’s tough shit.

Moderators Zico Posted April 29 Moderators Share Posted April 29 The details still need to be worked on but clubs not in Europe would be allowed to spend 85 per cent of their club revenue on squad costs. That involves wages for their players, amortised transfer fees and also agent fees. The clubs that are in Europe would be allowed to spend a maximum of 70 per cent on squad costs. That is also in line with UEFA rules. thought that's what was in place already, a limit based on revenue, so the more you earn, the more you can spend teams like Utd would be fine teams like Bournemouth would be fucked
Moderators Zico Posted April 29 Moderators Share Posted April 29 or maybe not Utilising a concept referred to as “anchoring” or “tethering”, it is expected that spending on transfers, wages and agents’ fees would be linked to the amount that the league’s bottom clubs receives in broadcast revenue, creating a hard ceiling on clubs’ outflows in these areas. In principle, the idea is to prevent a further widening of the financial chasm that is increasingly seen between the top and bottom ends of the league. In reality, it might mean that excessive and lucrative sponsorship deals made by the richest club have no additional impact on their spending power, if their income is already over the anchored amount of the least affluent sides. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 29 Site Supporter Share Posted April 29 (edited) Hmm, not sure that that is particularly good. Bit of a "race to the bottom". Stick with what we have now, but enforce it. Seems that City's case is up later this year, if reports/comments are to be believed. Indeed. Though if it applied across the board, it that should stop that. I'm just not into this artificial attempt to level the playing field though; there is something special when a new team bursts the big boys' bubbles, Leicester, Brighton, Villa, even Bournemouth and Brentford have given the minnows hope. It almost feels like a franchise approach.
gonzo
Still find it mad the Premier league don't have their own channel. Netflix style. Do what they want then.

Simon, It's insane it wasn't in place about 10 years ago! That backwards rule of not televising 3pm kick offs would have to go in the bin though. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 1 Site Supporter Share Posted May 1 Maybe, but they still can't compete with the very top teams in terms of spending. I suppose that having built gradually, they feel entitled to spend what they can afford within current confines, and not be held back.
