But although Warne has had 3 promotions to Championship… ..he has also had 3 relegations from it. Not listened to this most recent interview. But I don’t think getting 5 more points than us, including a very scabby win over us at their ground means that playing 5 systems instead of 1 over a season is indicative of him being a “better” manager. Fair points. If Evatt could just use a bit of Warne's horses for courses approach occasionally, then who knows, he (and we) might be the better for it. A difficult situation, knowing when to stick and when to twist, but that's part of the role of a manager. He has time to learn, but he may have to be quick, as the pressure will be well and truly on this season. Strangely, I think Evatt may well be kore successful higher up- perhaps he needs a promotion to the championship and stability there to get someone "big" to take a chance.
June 5, 20242 yr Sharon done an interview with BWFC TV. The short Instagram clip she says “Ian and Chris will have everything they need”. Hopefully puts to bed the is he going/staying debate. Crack on with summer now.

We take Warne for a year to get us promoted and they have Evatt playing his style to keep them in the championship. Season finishes and we swap back, hoping he’s learned something valuable but has not been cheating on us whilst he’s been away. Edited June 5, 20242 yr by Jol_BWFC
June 5, 20242 yr He's staying, he's got Sharon's backing (we're so lucky to have her) best we can do as fans now, is fully get behind them next season.
June 5, 20242 yr I don't think it's the right decision, but the board have backed him and so will I and 99.9% of the fanbase. Here's hoping he learns from this season and is more adaptable to get us promotion. He's had the players to do it for the last couple of years, just needs to coach and manage them well.
June 6, 20242 yr I’m glad he’s staying, despite originally voting for him to leave. It’ll be an interesting one though because as a few others have said, he’s starting this season with very little, if any, goodwill left in the fan base and absolute expectations that we are promoted. He’s not faced that combination before and it’ll mean that we have to be right up there from the off to keep the fans onside and it won’t take much for fans to bring up that play off final defeat as a stick to beat him with. It’ll always be there until we get promoted and people let it lie. He showed this year that dealing with pressure isn’t his strongest attribute (touchline behaviour and some questionable quotes to the media) and this year will be the most intense pressure he’s faced in management from game 1. I really hope he proves that he’s learnt lessons from this year, both on and off the pitch and more than anything that we get promoted so he can go back to being thought of in the way that I think he deserves (apart from one disastrous game). You can guarantee though that if we’re off the pace after 6 games then there will be calls for his head.

Ian, in the 4 years since you arrived, when we barley had a player in the squad, you’ve finished; Promotion 9th 5th and a trophy 3rd … I’m afraid to tell you there is very little goodwill left, you need to be more adaptable and, if you’re off the pace by the first week of September, we’ll be reviewing your position at the club. Hi Ian, I completely understand the points you’re making, all sounds perfectly sensible in a rationale environment. Football - and more specifically football fans - aren’t rationale. Like it or not, most people will see not going up last year as a failure and the manner in which we failed will only add to that. You can dress it up all you want but I could also say Promotion (from L2) L1 L1 L1 The latter in the weakest league there has been for a long time (general opinion rather than fact, admittedly) and with a relative decent amount of money spent (fact). Whether or not the owners will be reviewing his position if we’re mid-table come September / October, I’m not sure. I can guarantee that if it’s the case the fans will very much be turning on him and the play off final will be brought up over and over again. I very much wish you all the success and that we go up as champions!

I’m not saying he’s starting the season with the fan base wanting him out, but he’s definitely not starting the season with anywhere near as much ‘credit in the bank’ as he has done in each of his seasons so far. What that means in terms of how much patience is left to see us through a run of bad results or a poor start I don’t know, but I’d bet a lot of money that it won’t take as long for there to be unrest in the stands.

Let's hope we smash everyone from day 1 and run away with the league. And I'll claim I never doubted him. (on a separate point, can you edit old posts?)

So not "very little, if any, good will" then, and several people have said they'd vote differently now. I guarantee you we'll be singing 'We've got Super Ian Evatt' on the opening day of the season.

June 6, 20242 yr I suspect Sharron was voter 221 in our 'Stay or Go" thread. It's clearly been a potential exit & both her and Evatt have needed tome to think. She's talking yet more investment. Good. Let's not waste it on more Dan's. Edited June 6, 20242 yr by Dr. Feelgood

You are crazy not coming on here giving a knee jerk reaction. And really poor form that you kept so quiet and didn’t say a word when we all deserved to hear from you much sooner.
