How many trophies has he won?

No more than Capello (who was also a terrible appointment) or any of the others.

Finals ultimately mean fuck all, neither does being a plucky loser to France in the quarter final, or doing reallyyyyy well to get to the World Cup semi but deciding to sabotage your chances and play Lingard and Alli in centre mid when you get there.

I’ll say it again - there is not one tournament where he has over performed when you look at the draw we’ve been given.

OK, mate. Have a lovely evening.

Hear this handbrake thing all the time. But most teams play well with a 'handbrake' ie you need the defensive base to let the forwards play. Just lobbing every talented forward player on never works. Which is why for me, Gerrard should have been dropped over Lampard for England.

I'm not suggesting throwing loads of attackers on. We took the handbrake off for 10 mins tonight and we were back in the game. As soon as we equalised the handbrake was back on again.

I don’t get the hype over Mainoo, he’s a water carrier at best and has been fairly wank.

Guehi has had a poor tournament.

Kane has been a fucking embarrassment.

Bellingham has been average and is a young lad up his own arse.

To win a tournament you need all  your players giving 8 or 9 out of 10 performances consistently, most of our lads  have been 6 out of 10 throughout the tournament.

How the fuck we made the final i’ll never know.

Guehi has had a poor tournament?

You're clearly taking the piss now.

100% we'll miss Southgate when he's gone. The players almost certainly will. I hope the next manager fosters such an environment that allows us the success we've had recently.

I certainly won't miss him as a manager but if the soft fuckers in the squad do then that's their problem. He comes across as a really good bloke that I'd happily accept a pint off but he's won nowt yet again.

I know - when we actually ran at them we created things - its the handbrake word that makes me teeth itch 😅

Will top clubs be scrambling to get Southgate’s signature? I doubt it, he’s the kind of manager that is made for international footy. I keep saying he’s a championship manager at best. Question is who comes in?

Spain played the more positive football and were better on the night, no complaints about the result.

Don't think it would've made any difference but blowing for a foul on Cucurella at the end was a disgrace when we were in a good position, then Spain took 45 seconds to actually take it, then the ref blew this whistle on 90+4 exactly before we could even take our free kick.

Yep, that was baffling and frustrating from the ref. Should've at least given us one final chance of putting it into the mixer.

Clutching at straws a little bit though. We got what we deserved.

At least we can all stop pretending we like international football now. It's shit.

You might not but there are thousands who follow England around the world who would disagree. Spoke to loads over here (in Berlin) who have spent thousands and travelled from far and wide to watch our national team compete against the best in Europe and probably the world.
Not sure who your ‘we’ is referring to.

So your 3 decade sulk is because he did not engage in a full conversation with you ? Assume you had engaged if you knew who they were supporting.

Hotel ?  Motel ? Holiday Inn ?  1 bonus point if you can name the song, it is genuine classic, trust you not to google it.

"I Don't Care" by Webb Pierce. Rather fitting.

Just back from a trip 'home'. One word. Inevitability.

Inevitable that Shutgate would play Kane, Rice and Saka (Watkins and Palmer certainly in from the start for me). Kane has been a shadow of his former self. Rice profligate with possession. Saka - I just don't get the love in over Saka. Did he go outside and hit the bye line even once?

Inevitable that he would leave it too late to make positive changes instead of having a go from the start.

Inevitable that Spain would win. Best team (by far) all tournament beating all of the serious challengers. We stuttered and farted with moments of excellence.

I hope that it is inevitable that Southgate fucks off now. Two consecutive Euro finals fucked up now through negative tactics.

Before I forget. "Who is on the losing side now, cunt?". Just fuck off and be quick about it.

Not a fan of plug generally, but he was right last night.

Southgate has done well (decent record) but if he is to play conservative, risk-averse football, then ultimately it has to yield success.

Players are better than they showed and have to be given opportunity to show what they can do.

Kane was wasted playing like that: he will score goals galore if given chances, but won't chase about, and stretch a team.

Saka had a decent first half, but made poor choices with his passing when overlapping players were available, then disappeared.

Rice hasn't looked overly comfortable in possession all tournament.

Bellingham in and out.

Some have seemed knackered, when other nations players haven't. Maybe they used the squad more fully.

First half against the Dutch arguably the best, but overall performances were disappointing.

We were more attacking and fluid in Russia, but seemed to have become more negative.

Shame.

We were well and truly beat by then but I couldn't believe the ref blew exactly on 94 mins. There was another stoppage as well as Cucurella, so I think we lost just over 2mins of the added 4. I'd be in favour of a 60 minute match, with the clock paused the moment the ball is out of play, to help get rid of this time wasting

Fairly dull tournament all round I thought.

Get the impression a lot of players are a bit burnt out and have also possibly got half an eye on pre season tours and not getting injured.

Not saying they don’t want to win it, but club football is definitely the priority these days.

England were deserving of their second place. Spain light years ahead of everyone else, so whilst SouthgateBall is a bit defensive, it’s effective over 6/7 games.

International football is a reluctant semi-on at best nowadays.

Why’s there no in game comments or celebrations for our goal? Just full of folk moaning (nowt knew here). Is that genuine or comments taken down?

Anyway…… 58 years on, strangely the hurt get’s less for me, maybe it’s a bit of reality or maturity, but I don’t feel as bad as I did in 1990.

Don’t get me wrong, I care and would have loved it and partied longer last night if we’d won

But I’m quite reflective this morning in a positive way. Overall getting to the final was a very decent effort. Best team won.
