Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 What a bit of footage that was. 4 ladies giving the national anthem the beans, with joy on their faces. Princess Royal handing out the medals too- a former olympian herself. Quote

I don't know how they score the match- not really my bag- but I respect the expertise of the the commentator (Bunce?) and he said the Briton had won. Not the first controversial result. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 The interview with the rowers was special. Great stories, great personalities and great athletes. Proud of their country who reciprocate. Quote

Paced himself beautifully- reckon everyone thought he'd let the front man get away. Malc will be mega impressed. Yee can be expected to beat Wilde 99 times out of 100 because of his potential change of pace. In the swim Yee was 27 secs down on the leader but 36 ahead of Wilde. On the bike Yee and others caught the leading 6 early on but no-one wold work with him to keep Wilde at bay, as they knew they could not beat Yee on the run. Wilde's group closed to catch the 19 ahead and he made a bold attempt to break Yee. At one point the 2 French athletes were threatening Yee for any medal but he got over his bad patch. Once Wilde weakened Yee just went for it. Again. As he has run 3:51 for 1500 and 7:45 for 3000 and under 14 minutes Parkrun, he knows unless he is completely spent he will always have a chance. Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 Aye, saw it from start to finish. Can't help thinking he ran his own race, and knew what sort of gap he could make up. Even the commentators thought he had let Wylde get away, it's just a pity that the shit footage (not the BBC) seemed to miss the initial kick from Yee to start to close the gap. Quote
