The subs won us the game , with a centre half and a goal keeper on there who knows who misses out? We won so why complain about the subs, if we kept one back and conceded what people say then ? Evatt as a manager takes decisions and there's always some risk there, but saying we got it wrong is frankly amazing. Swapping Toal for Iredale worked as we did not concede. Was it perfect ? No, but why not talk about the positives ? Quote

Yeah, it's all about marginal gains If we had a centre half fit, I feel sure they'd have been a substitute instead of Dan Quote

We were getting overran in midfield too and he sorted that. We were having no luck down the right and he sorted that. Some in-game management...who'd ave thunked it eh Yeah but if we had had a goalkeeper on the bench .......... Quote
gonzo Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Who are these mystery Centre backs who could've gone on the bench? Quote
gonzo Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 And why on fucking gods green earth does it matter Quote
Ani Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 If Dion buries his sitter and the ref gives their lad the red he probably deserved we could win comfortably. Quote
wiggy Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 It certainly wasn’t perfect today but I thought it was a decent performance. When they closed off Sheehan we didn’t just play keep ball between the centre backs. Our forwards and wide players were making good runs and we found them with some threatening longer balls. Collins, Schon, McAtee and Matete all look good. And that Baxter save was something else. 3 points. Job done. Quote

Can get sent off though. Given today's restrictions because of injuries, just don't get it- Dan was never getting on, baring some dramatic injuries. Quote

He accepts the risk of the keeper for the 1 game in a hundreds that to have extra options on the bench. In one off games like play offs, he thinks risk is too high so tends to have a keeper on there. Do I agree ? Probably not but he has explained why he does it Quote

victor meldrew Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 apart from the first 15 and last 20 minutes we were easily second best , Baxter saved us , to me nothing had changed , their manager pushed the non existent midfield duo out of the game , same old baxter to santos /toal and hoof , lost the ball every single time , looks like great strength in depth but how many are going to be happy playing the last 20 minuites ? Baxter has been injured and has had to come off each of his last 3 seasons...........Forrester is fit played two pre-season games got a knock, but returned to play in the B team last week. Yes we got away with it today mainly due to Baxter Quote
