  • this free hit thing is doing my head in now who honestly even thinks it's a free hit? this is exactly the game we need right now this is IE's big test he's got 13 from 15 in games

  • Lostock Whites
    Lostock Whites

That game has angered me a lot more than I was hoping it would. I was expecting a loss because our record against better sides is truly awful, but the way we went about it was just pure cowardice

  • in my mind if we want to really see that we've moved on from last season and are serious contenders there's absolutely no reason to go into this game (as fans) and think we ought to lose I d

5-4-1?

Looks like it.

Hopefully not a return to 523 from start of the season

I don't mind the extra bodies in midfield I just don't think Dion is suited to playing up top by himself. He can't hold the ball up so it's gonna come straight back. He's also gonna need the right type of ball to get in behind.

Seems like he's gone for the keep it solid and try and nick one, but we haven't defended well enough this season to be confident of a clean sheet.

Who would the 3 be?

Probably, but not much width in that 4. Feels a bit like 5-3-1-1 or 5-2-2-1.

Dempsey and Arfield on either side of Charles. We did that a couple of times late in games before changing the formation to 532

Arfield ?

I'm pretty certain he's not playing Arfield, Charles, and Dempsey as a front three

He’s officially off his tits if he is.

I’d rather arfield was in the middle 3 with Sheehan and matete and Dempsey is supporting Charles.

After picking the other 3 at the weekend and keeping Victor on the bench, very odd.

Thinking about it, it could be a return to the box midfield we had at the start of the season - it was never really a 5-2-3, at least in intention - but with bonafide midfielders

At least That £13m striker is on the bench having been injured

So they've got a L1 striker up top

Can't for the team sheet to come out so we can say Evatt is clueless, has the bingo machine out and is a stubborn pig headed arrogant love cheat.

I just said “bloody hell”!

Southwood

Williams, Dacres-Cogley, Santos, Johnston, Schon

Matete, Sheehan

Arfield, Dempsey

Charles

That's exactly what I was worried it was... It didn't look great earlier in the season when we tried Dempsey and Arfield as the two advanced men with 1 central striker.

Well, in a way, talk about dying on your sword. If it works great

We won an away game a little while back with one up top. Think it was Charles.

Maybe at Peterborough, but not sure.

Much rather this approach than a virtually empty midfield.

Whether it is particularly a 4 man midfield is obviously debatable. I've no doubt they'll be encouraged to push on and support Dion when appropriate, but the extra solidity is welcome.

May still get beaten, but it seems a more horses for courses selection.

Not got a clue how this is going to turn out but it is refreshing seeing different formations against different sides.

It'll  give our midfielders more space to run into the box with 1 up top if nowt else.

Arfield with a Lampard esque run into the box goal tonight

Evatt will be hoping he is still here in the new year and everyones fit so he can play Baxter on the wing, Desmond central Midfield and Mcatee wingback

Only joking we dont play wingers

Destroys the 'stubborn Evatt' theory if anything. But there'll be another spin.
