We are panicked and give it away needlessly because they are harrying us, pressing and winning back possession. They’ve created chances, dragged our defenders all over and we’re picking up bookings trying to stop them playing. They are 1-0 up and can afford to pass it around.

Think I'd call this a cowardly set up.

Relied heavily on our ability to play out of possession and not concede, with a crap right back at centre back, a crap left wing back at right wing back and the corpse of Scott Arfield in midfield. So, it wasn't ever going to work.

Also further isolates Charles who's on a hiding to nothing.

There's nothing wrong with sitting back and looking to counter.

But it's incredibly obvious that the players are scared and panic every time they get the ball. 

They need to be brave and to not just hit the ball away like a hot potato. All that does is go back and then they attack again.

Could be better, but maybe many imagined it being worse. 

Would like to see a positive, early substitution or two, just to give them something to think about.

If we're struggling to keep hold of it, but playing only one striker then a subtle change would seem necessary.

You can tell it’s the first time we’ve played like this. It seems players don’t know when to press, they’re just packed in tight and narrow. 
 

Once we gain the ball back there doesn’t seem any plan for ball retention apart from booting it long to Dion who’s got virtually no chance of winning it. Our wing backs have to get higher and Dempsey and Arfield need to push higher much faster to give us a chance on the break. We’re giving Birmingham way too much respect. 

We’re sat back waiting for the next attack before we’ve even given the ball away yet.

Hopeless task for Charles on his tod up top. If we’re going with a lone striker than it has to be Vic and have someone playing just off him rather than having four midfielders who are just watching the game pass them by at the moment.

The only surprise is that, in theory at least, we’re still in the game. 

I know they've spent millions upon millions, but their manager has not even had a full time proper league club before this job, younger than Evatt who has been here 5 years and we look miles off it.

We're not frigging Lincoln City, we're Bolton Wanderers, finished a game away from the Championship last season and have spent money this summer as well.

I'm up in the middle of the night, can't sleep because of a nasty little virus stopping me breathing properly. I thought one positive would be I'd be able to see the game (rare for me).

There has been very little to cheer me up. I'm genuinely wondering what the point of Sheehan is, weak as piss, shown little composure, passing has been crap. Got on the end of a great corner routine and just hit it into a group of Brum players.

Birmingham look miles in front of us, unless there is a complete change this half it will be another big game where we simply haven't managed to find a way to worry the opposition.

Only questions that need answering are what time is their penalty and our sending off?

To be fair we got dicked at home to Hudds being very expensive so I do understand the thinking behind it but it's not working.
