Don't think i'm happy about the season so far, we should be playing better, being more consistent, higher up the league, but to read this forum, you would think we were in the bottom three. I’m not sure it’s negativity 07 more pessimism and frustration. We all believe we should be doing better than we are but there’s just no confidence that we will. I’d actually say any negativity is coming from Evatt and the players right now. Throwing the towel in at Birmingham even before a ball was kicked, collapsing to Stockport then trying to protect a lead against a poor 10 man Cambridge just doesn’t shout positivity. I don’t know whether Evatt’s still feeling the effects of our Wembley defeat but instead of moaning and complaining he needs to be lifting the gloom and being positive. He’s bringing the pressure on both himself and the players by being as he is and until he snaps out of it and gives us something to be positive about I’m afraid none of us will feel that way.

What do you exspect Evatt to say after defeats at Brum and Stockport. He sums up the displays and ends on a positive note before the next game.

It’s what he said before the Brum game and the crap negative side and attitude he went into it with plus the appalling negative defensive performance at Cambridge and if you can’t see that maybe you should take your Evatt rose coloured glasses off.

Good post. Can’t believe I’m saying this. 😉

Let’s be honest nothing he says now after a poor performance or result is going to be listened to rationally and accepted as reasons by those who’ve made their minds up on Evatt. So on that point I agree with you. But I do understand why people are feeling negative now. This notion of us running in quick sand going nowhere and the rinse and repeat effect of wins we expect followed by calamities and surrenders against local/main rivals is really tiresome. We can’t expect to feel positive when we aren’t meeting expectations. For the first time in his 4 years here, there is undoubtedly a stagnation at best, us going downhill at worst. But for balance I’ll agree on your point of somehow we aren’t out of it yet, so yes, 3 wins in two tricky away games and beating Wigan, would swing the pendulum again for me and that’s what I’m hoping for. But it’s hope rather than expectation now. And somehow I know at the back of my mind there’s an other Stockport, Huddersfield, Birmingham or Oxford around the corner.

Can you not see this? He’s the one that sets them up, he picks the players to play his system. They’re his responsibility.

It’s his team now. They have let him down. Reality though is he’s let us down big time. I am yet to here a convincing argument that he’ll deliver promotion. Surely that the minimum now? We are just plodding along. I think the incoming run will see us drift off. We’ve had an easier run. That said, everyone plays everyone twice over the season and if I’m honest I don’t see top 6.

What's the point changing manager then? If he's picked shit players, they'll still be shit players for a new manager. Or do you want us to start from scratch again?

Evatt should be getting more out of them and if he can’t then maybe a new man should get the chance?

The players are plenty good enough for this level, I just think we play a really shit system with this 2 in the middle nonsense. I'm not sure the we have the players to play a much different way (say 4 at the back) so @Cheese is probably correct and we just have to see how this season plays out. All this is just my opinion of course, I have no footballing qualifications of any description 😁. What i am pretty sure of is we can't afford to rip everything up in January and go out to buy a load of different players. Guess I'm hoping for the best 🙏
December 1, 20241 yr We had plenty of games in hand last season and fucked that up royally. I'm resigned to a season of disappointment again, nothing I've seen this season gives me cause to think otherwise.

December 1, 20241 yr But I still think we should get a win on Tuesday (although you can't second guess this lot)
December 1, 20241 yr There shit players if they can’t handle pressure it’s part of being a professional footballer. Evatt is to blame for tactics and coaching and blowing a transfer budget . A new manager and a change of approach will help but a number of the squad will still need shifting
December 1, 20241 yr As Tomski has said before, ever since Barnsley away in the league last season when Evatt was pondering his future instead of geeing up the players, he's been an absolute mood hoover around the place. Impossible for fans to be particularly buoyant with all the negativity coming from Evatt.

He could start with being positive before the match. Instead of bigging up the opposition, perhaps simply acknowledge their talent, but make it into a positive, and opportunity for his players to show how good they are and prove their worth as promotion contenders. Before Birmingham, he laid out the defeat carpet, and dulled down expectation. He's also called them lazy etc and poor in training. Very de-motivating.

Very He said him and is staff can’t be watching them all the time and the players have to monitor themselves one example he gave was when there in the gym . Johnstone said the players have had a honest conversation about effort and lifestyle so to me that’s some of them toss it off when the coaching staff aren’t present Edited December 1, 20241 yr by Farnywhite

Certainly some have lost confidence, others have injury issues and never get a run of games. Others will improve the second someone else changes system and give certain players freedom.
December 1, 20241 yr The players get away with murder for me. Anyone with even half an ear close to the club knows there's issues with their training, behaviour, diet and all kinds of other shit. The manager only being there 3 days a week won't help. Obviously this is all under Evatt watch and he's ultimately going to pay the price but as ever, the players will get away scot free. I'm not sure a new a manager waving the iron fist could sort a few of them out.
