The first hour wasn't great by any means, but we ere still in the game , we were building up a head of steam and he does what he always does and effectively kills the game off with his subs. None of the subs did any better than the players they replaced, this inverted wing backs thing doesn't work and McAtee's a useless prick that we've spunked over a million on. His ability to kill any momentum we have with predictable subs is incredible. he went straight down the tunnel which is fair enough when you are getting pelters. It’s turning rapidly. Gonna be pretty grim in a few weeks I reckon

Possession, maybe, but that’s because other teams have worked out that it’s no problem at all to let us have the ball. It used to be that teams were happy to let us pass across the back three - now they are showing they’re comfortable even when we have the ball on the edge of the box, such is our lack of cutting edge in the final third. Something made all the more baffling given we scored from outside of the box the other day and today looked terrified within 25 yards. Charles should have done better with the second half rebound and was nowhere to be seen in the first half on one of the rare quality balls in to the box but other than those two and the goal I’d be struggling to suggest we posed much threat at all. Just not good enough on all fronts. Need a good clear out and rethink across much of the team, but ultimately the change has to start from the top. An old saying, 'a fish rots from the head'. The rotting needs to stop by removal of that head.

Agree with most that we often could cross or shoot earlier, but like watching us have the ball for most of the game, trying to break teams down. A couple of mates are Huddersfield fans, and whilst they're getting closer to perfecting the art of low scoring wins that usually end in promotion, they says it's a real grind to watch and don't look forward to games. Also remember how miserable Derby fans were last season playing pretty much the opposite to us despite them ending up with success. Don't get me wrong, the position we're in the table currently is not acceptable regardless of the style of play.

It’s tiresome
January 1, 20251 yr Popular Post 2-1 down, last ten minutes... We still have 5 defenders on and Santos is still playing 'to you to me' football with the keeper. Every fucking time. There's just no urgency.
January 1, 20251 yr Aye. Possession is all well and good, but if you're not winning and doing little with it, then you've either got to get much better at it, and/or give the opposition something different to work out.

As so often, we had a lot of nice looking possession that racked up the successful pass stats but, as Evatt acknowledged, once we got to where there needed to be a bit of composure and sureness, it all fell apart.

But it all stems from, get ball in middle, pass back get to the wingers, who run a bit then get it across the entire pitch to the others idea, Then a poor cross straight to one of theirs in a packed box. Most goals we score seem to be from direct attacking.

Despite looking nice in the middle third at times, 2-1 didn't flatter them. And the less said about the second half the better. Fuck me, I need to stop listening to the shit he comes out with.

We’ve suggested a flat back four, wingbacks on the right correct sides, my own personal favourite a settled strike force and a general no tinkering in the 70th minute. If we start playing square pegs in square holes and leaving them there it might just work.

He won't play a back four, because to him Santos is his number 1 defender, but he's an absolute liability in a four.

January 1, 20251 yr Southwood- makes sense, you could see Baxter taking it easy in warm up assuming due to the nose injury. Cogley - getting grief from fans, runs and runs but he's lost the ability to tackle, Jones - shell of his former self, and unsure why. Great going forward but a liability at the back, Santos - looks knackered and like a man who either needs a new boss or to move on, how was he beaten for their goal ! Johnston - think he's either been rushed back or he's just been wrecked by two major injuries. Schon - still not sold, does some great runs but it's like he's well out of position half the time. Hos corner taking is shocking. Matetee improving slowly, possibly our MOM today. GT. Needs someone else to take the captaincy as he's regressed and isn't the player he was. Lolos - needs to spend some time on set pieces, seems to have a knack of just not quite getting things right. Charles - largely invisible but obe of hid better games. As with santos needs either a new boss or move on, shadow of his former self and has been for last 12 months. Collins - seem to carry collins then moments of brilliance. Runs a lot but seems not arsed, we know he is and he can just pull a goal out of nowhere. Mcatee, actually gives a shit but I'm fearful evatt has either deskilled him or just bought him based on him having a skillful brother. Tutu just fucking run at them! Opposition players don't know what to do. And if you have an open net ... shoot! Gomes, another thst seems a shadow of what he was last season Williams, we need to start him on that side. A real threat going forward, needs to do his long throws again Too many players that are not performing, at this point they all need a management change. Fans booing and making wsnker signs at the end won't help..I clapped, one of the few and made clear eye contact with a few who literally looked like they had no idea what to do.

Saturday could be my last game of the season
January 1, 20251 yr Our centrebacks would be fine in a 4 providing it's under a new manager. Who actually coaches shape and defending rather than prioritising farting about with it like this one. Mad really because he was a defender himself
January 1, 20251 yr So infuriating this. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of supporters want rid of IE. For the board to fund another transfer window for him seems like a waste of their money. We are absolutely nowhere near promotion quality. And in the last 12 months we have got worse. As I said last week, the longer the board tolerate his damaging incompetence, the poorer it reflects on them and they too become fair game for criticism. As much as we vent our anger on here, it really does fall on deaf ears.

Cogley is on of the worst right sided players i have seen watching Bolton in the last 56 years. He runs and runs, but does fuck all else! Cant tackle, cant pass forward, bottles challenges, waves his arms about blaming the ref and others, no positional sense. Hes utter fucking gash , and belongs back at Tranmere! Anyone think of anyone worse?
January 1, 20251 yr 12 hours ago, Johnnyrotten said: I'd agree. Some of the better football we've played this season, for all the justified criticisms generally (and the corners were lamentable), it was ridiculous that we lost that, definitely deserved a draw. And if anyone says "everyone was shite", they weren't watching Matete. Annoying when everyone gets tarred with the same brush just because we've lost, he was outstanding. Strength, composure, tackling and got fouled countless times, got up and went back for more, best player on pitch by a country mile. I don't agree on this. For me we played nice football in ineffective areas. Lots of passing around in midfield and defence, but no real penetration. Their keeper wasn't worked at all. Meanwhile Mansfield had far less possession but looked dangerous throughout when they went forward. Admittedly in the second half they sat back as you would do as a much smaller club, but they fully deserved the win for me. Edited January 2, 20251 yr by Stig

Lolos was half decent, but had 2 awful shots which just wasted good situations (what was that about when he pee rolled it wide from 25 yards?) and the free kick couldn't have been worse. Other than Cogley (who was dire v Lincoln too), I didn't think any of the starters had a terrible game really. Folk will slag off Santos for the 2nd goal (fine) and ignore the other 89 minutes when he was virtually faultless. Tomo wasn't bad, some good stuff and his first half-decent game since Blackpool; Schon surprised me a couple of times with pure skill and invention, and he put a good shift in. There wasn't a 10 minute spell in that game when I thought we were anywhere near as bad as we've been in many games this season.
January 1, 20251 yr I just want to see something different, a different formation to show that he's thinking of new things or tryin new ideas. 4231, get one of the CBs in the CDM role alongside GT, make it a little bit big sam-ish, anything, instead of trying the same tired crap over and over again and expecting something different to happen (isn't that the definition of madness or something), but instead he'll probably buy players to shoehorn into this dross formation that doesn't work. Edited January 1, 20251 yr by SalCity Biggie .
January 1, 20251 yr New year same old fucking bollocks from evatt. He’s done for, come on Sharron put him and us out of our misery, whilst there’s still a chance of playoffs.
January 1, 20251 yr Our club is sliding back into oblivion quickly and no one who is in charge seems to want to take action! The remedy, Evatt out. FV need to wake up fast.

Some of the forward play in first 10 mins was very good, and there was a spell after their second where we scored and it looked like we might again. That was it though for me, second half was a load of unproductive huff and puff, misplaced simple passes, poor crosses and wasteful free kicks. In short, about 25 good minutes out of the 90
