Transfers to move the needle?

IE says we have money to spend on 2 or 3 1st 11 players.

I don't know what move the needle means. But I wonder who we have in mind. Vic for one has to be moved out ....

Unless they're a world-class player like Bradley, the vast majority of Evatt's signings have taken months to get used to this bollocks way of playing anyway. Pretty much to a man his January signings have been abject and then gotten better later on (even if like Victor and Randall, 'better' still doesn't equal 'good enough').

See this is what I don't get

Randell has vastly improved since moving to his preferred position (RWB), personally I much prefer him to Cogley

It seems as though if a player is played out of position and looks a bit crap through no fault of his own(that desicion was Evatts) some people will not change their minds even if they have much improved

I’ve no idea if casino is saying he’s going but I felt that deal was being signed with a view to sell. With his age. If he gets a champ offer then he should go. Won’t get another chance. If it doesn’t materialise then he has the protection of the contract

Ive no idea why it was signed. It could just be hed played a set number of games referenced in the previous contract

I still think folk dont realise how much is in these contracts

Its not just 5k a week for 3 years

Loanees from premier league clubs and out of favour championship players is where we need to be looking.

While I approve of the general idea, i predict a torrent of

Wtf, hes shit

If we take somebody not getting a game at, for example, blackburn

Anyway, lets see

Nobody has rejoiced about Dions possible departure.

We just don't play to his strengths. Never have or never will.

He's an off the shoulder striker who needs to be off and away for his chances.

Not bumbling about running to folk with back to goal.

Still manages to score 20 goals a season though . And we won’t get better at this level it’s poor management not to play to us strengths instead we try to show horn m mctee into the side who everyone can see is inferior player

We signed a fullback for 700k in the summer and Randell has started 5 games.

So it's not just me that doesn't think he's good enough, improved or not.

Connell would make a lot more sense as the type of player we need, but is he a realistic purchase for us? Will Barnsley sell to a promotion rivals? Would Connell want to move to us given we look to be in a worse position than Barnsley?

In principle it’s a good idea to snap up a player from a premier league club, the reality is it would take a few weeks possibly months to get them league one ready.

Schon is a LWB, Randell is the best we've got at RWB

There's a common misconception that if they're premier league youth, they're better than seasoned league one players.

In truth we absolutely hammered man u youth last year.

Christ. The thread is about signing players in January to move the needle. Randell is an example (one of many) of a player signed in Jan who looked terrible while he got up to speed.

If now, two years later, having been dropped for the first half of the season... we're about to see him shine in his true position then great. But it doesn't do much for the idea that players can come in under Evatt and make an instant impact.

Never said it did 🤷‍♂️

Yeah but if you're just after 1, maybe 2, to add to a squad of experienced league 1 players they can add something different. Usually a bit of pace or ability to take on a man, which we're lacking both of.

Can we try and reloan Caleb Taylor from WBrom who's just returned back there from Wycombe and would sort out our big problem of dealing with crosses and big centre forwards

Why, do you fathom, would West Brom recall a player to send him out to a worse team, playing worse football in the same league as the one he's just been recalled from?

No chance. He doesn’t like Evatt.

A bid (by a currently unspecified club) has apparently been accepted for Randall

Randall Williams going out or Joel Randall coming in?

Joel Randall potentially coming in

He didn’t play today or on the bench looks like the board have wasted more money listening to Evatt and Markham so how many number 10s do we have ?

Well, given we've got a rejuvenated Morley back, I hope we keep him. At least he's used to the environment and players.

If he now leaves to make way for another attacking midfielder, then it will not help the mood.

May well turn out that Randall is decent (assuming he's coming here), but he still has to settle.

One or two others will almost certainly have to go out though.

Lolos, possibly McAtee

But I'm not convinced Lolos is on either

Neither am I could Randall be our saviour?

This is another example of a player getting intermittent pelters.

One game he looks good, carries the ball and has a goal threat.

Another anonymous.

Typical of our season.

As before kick off I'm not convinced that away from home especially, it suits us with 5 at the back, thd 2 midfielders and Lolos somewhere between them and the strikers.

Either 3 in there (Matete) and 2 strikers, or just one striker and Lolos behind.

Hokey cokey football.

Lolos looked lost today. No idea where he was meant to be playing. And like you I’m not sure if he’s a 10, 8 or a striker!

Same with Randal - not sure about this at all

Who knows

We might be about to find out
