Transfers to move the needle?

Yeah just been reminded elswhere too. He signed a new 2yr deal in the summer.

So we'd have to pay a higher transfer fee and a higher salary than we offered in the summer, for a player out of form, unhappy and found himself in and out of a struggling team. It seems more desperate than viable

The club and the player have since had a big falling out and I suspect a deal on similar - and possibly even more favourable - terms would be there to be done

He's not going to come for a pay decrease

That might depend on how desperately he wanted out and how creatively we incentivised any contract offer

We'd likely also save on the transfer fee as well

We don’t need anymore impish attacking midfielders. I want someone with a bit of steel

Nobody has rejoiced about Dions possible departure.

We just don't play to his strengths. Never have or never will.

He's an off the shoulder striker who needs to be off and away for his chances.

Not bumbling about running to folk with back to goal.

In one. Over the seasons I've lost count of the number of times he's shaped to make a good, spot-on run that would stretch or break the back line only for Santos or Jones to look up and decide to pass it 10 yards sideways.

Whatever the Hudds link he'd score a panful for a side who went about things like Barnsley did against us, getting it and giving it, quick and early.

He plays cricket, where scoreboard pressure is a thing...

I hope the scoreboard falls on him. That might exert some pressure on the board to find a suitable replacement.

I think this is where my negative outlook on it comes from. Even our lot managed to bully him out of the game here earlier in the season. He just isn't required and there would have be too many moving parts to make the transfer possible, which would leave us short in other areas.

What I'm really looking for in this window is someone who makes lots of final third entries, enhances our XG, stresses the block to the max, creates big chances (not little ones) and builds that all important scoreboard pressure.

Till I see us getting one of those I won't take much interest 😉

Found him.

But but but,  how many attempts on target,  how many times has he regained possession, what % is his ball retention in the final 3rd !

None of this outweighs how good they are WITHOUT the ball.

We absolutely need to replace Maghoma / Dempsey and nobody (perhaps CMG) can carry the ball like they can. I just don't think Randall can either from the few times I have seen him.

Since Cmg has come back I've nit really seen anything special,  and part of me worries he won't be the same player

Well, hes had about 40 minutes

Doubled his mins in a year and a half😂

FWIW I  agree we’ve seen nothing yet. I’m not sure he fits ‘the system’ but hey he’s not on his own with that. Needs a run out before folk make a call though as this is as close as we get to the ‘like a new signing’ shout.

Another poor signing. Injury aside. We bought a winger when we don’t play wingers, after selling our best player,  because we don’t play wingers.

another head scratcher. I’m sure he’s a good ‘un. I just don’t see what he brings to Bolton Wanderers

He’s usually a pretty reliable source.

So maybe he is one of those we’ve tabled a bid for…

seems fucking crazy to me.

hope I'm wrong.

Maybe Morley is going, and perhaps someone else. Maybe a crock, or maybe a surprise.

At this moment, it's not exactly high on the fucks given scale.

We'll see if Randall amounts to anything as a rumour (Pete O'Rourke pretty reliable by and large) and, as said, it could be linked to departures, but otherwise it smacks of what I read into Evatt's comment a week or two back about the window needing 'to bring people in who make the team better'.

Is that better at doing the same things or better because it can do different things? I sincerely hope it isn't the former

We’re really short on midfielders, even with Morley back.

In that case, it makes sense.

I know very little about the lad (hardly remember any specific opposition players after we’ve played them), but from what others have said, he sounds like more of the same in terms of type of midfielder.

In that case, it doesn’t make sense.

He sounds like a typical Evatt signing.🙄

The same player as what?

He barely played for us before he got injured.

Before he played for us he was a winger. He won't be a winger for us.

I'm not sure why anyone was putting any faith in him being our saviour.

I'm past caring because we'll need to start again when we get a new manager, hopefully in the summer, so I've no axe to grind with any signings, good luck to them.

But Randall strikes me as a midfield version of Collins.  We'll be impressed with his skill and vision sometimes, and other times he'll be brushed aside and and the game will pass him by physically.

An IE type player without a doubt.  I like Collins, and I might like Randall if he signs, but IMO it won't improve us in the games that matter.

Glad it’s not just me. I remember CMG for his goal at Cambridge, and very little else
