Hard to think of any wins this season v 11 men that were against a team in any sort of form. Quote
wakey Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Ideal scenario, given we're not going to sack him... We break the Rotherham hoodoo with a scrappy / lucky win. Evatt declares himself the best Bolton manager since 1966 and says we've turned a corner. We go on a slightly improved run, based largely on lucky last-minute goals and daft red cards, which builds confidence. Includes a scrappy win at Wigan (Evatt declares himself the best Bolton manager in over a decade, not realising this is worse than 'since 1966'). By the time we hit the last half dozen games we've finally hit a bit of form and storm into the play-offs. We win all 3 play-off games to get promoted. We sack him after losing the first 5 games in the championship and get 'the new Bruce' in to keep us up and herald the start of a new golden era. COYFWM. (for now, I'll take a win at Rotherham) Quote

Duck Egg Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Rotherham have seriously underperformed this season but had a few better results lately. Would be typical of us to give their season the kick start it needs. However, records are there to be broken, so why not now? Easy 3-0 win. Edited January 6 by Duck Egg Predictive text Quote
Ani Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 (edited) There has only been 5 goals in their last 5 games, so looks like they tightened up at the back but not scoring many. 4 each then on Saturday. Edited January 6 by Ani Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 6 Site Supporter Posted January 6 We're 7th in the away league table. They're 11th in the home league table. They've had a mixed bag of results, but rarely big wins or big defeats. Get at them early but take what chances we have and we may be ok. If we go behind, then I wouldn't be holding my breath. Quote

batton carrier Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Massive game this . Most of teams around us not playing ,game in hand on a Saturday rather than a midweek fixture. A win puts us right back in the mix which is amazing given some of our performances. 1-2 bolton win. Matete with a 35 yard screamer and a late late winner from Charles for us. Deflection off the managers beer belly for them which catches Baxter and Santos out as they are playing rock paper scissors on the halfway line. Evatt sent off for protesting about their goal .He claims it was out of play when deflected. VAR confirms that whilst steve evans was indeed stood in the dugout eating a pie when the ball hit him, his belly was clearly over the touchline, and the goal is given. In his post-match, Evatt talks about marginal gains ,fine margins and riding your luck . He announces that he has signed up for both the greggs and Guinness loyalty schemes and vows to bulk up in time for the next home game. Baxter and Matete dropped for next game. Baxter for losing at RPS. Matete for shooting from outside the box. Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 7 Site Supporter Posted January 7 I hope Matete starts, but there is every chance he won't. Quote

Sadly both are Millers fans so I’ve been instructed to stay quiet if Wanderers do score though I’ve assured her there’s little chance of that happening! 😀 Quote
Ani Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Apparently no under soil heating and with temps meant to -5,-6 and then -3. Not sure this game will be on. Quote
deeane Koontz Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Matete, Morley and GT midfield pls Outside Sheehan, Matete is the only one comfortable taking it on the half turn from our 20 centre backs. Let him sit and the other 2 can run up and down all game. 2-2 Quote

Obviously, there'll be no interchanging going on, but they could 😁 Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 7 Site Supporter Posted January 7 I think they're very different. One more physical, can drive with the balll, but generally passes it safely. The other more crafty, less defensively minded, and a fine dead-ball player. Use them both. Quote
Ani Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 All season we have looked unbalanced and short in midfield. Play Captain Legohead on left, Morley on right and Matete in the middle. Other than fitting in Collins, McAtee, Dion and Big Dan it makes sense. Quote

Given burnden had it I've no idea why new places don't. Quote
Bertie Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Over 1700 sold, so about 250 left. Was going to POTD but supposed I’d better buy up front. Out support continues to amaze me - lunchtime kick off on telly, playing like we are. Quote

Yes Ani it’s forecast to be minus figures every night this week right now but yesterday it was forecast to be 7 to 8 degrees by the weekend so they change their minds regularly. I wasn’t aware the New York didn’t have undersoil heating, you’d think for a modern stadium like that they would have but let’s just wait and see. Quote
marple whites Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I am sure they will have it covered with the game being on sky it’s a decent earner for them to try at all costs to get it on. Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 7 Site Supporter Posted January 7 Undersoil hearing isn't cheap to install let alone maintain and use. I suppose it comes down to what clubs feel they can afford. Seems the smaller grounds often don't have it. Quote

The way you read it on here sometimes and more so in other social media outlets you’d think nobody would be bothering as we’ve all given up. Great effort 👏👏 Quote
