I stood behind the dugouts earlier this season at Chorley when Phil brown brought Kidderminster to play them. 

I coached my son’s team for 5 years…. And I gave more tactical input than he did. 

Another bloke I love for his involvement at Bolton, but seemed very much a fella killing time on a Saturday afternoon rather than someone genuinely keen to return to the professional game. 

Not even the remotest chance he’s anywhere near a shortlist. Spot on about the night out though 😊

They put feelers out after Evatt offererd to resign months ago, they were hoping Evatt could turn it around and at least have us finish in the playoffs. Promotion he stayed but another loss in the playoffs he went.

When we lost to Cambridge, the ownership felt that his continued presence and management was putting the teams chances of even a playoff place in doubt. This was 100% sealed by Charlton, fan pressure and low gates.

While a more formal approach didn't start until Evatt had left, out of respect. Schumacher was from the start the top choice (this time) being seen to be both proven at getting promotion to the Championship and then actually being competitive in there with a very limited (for the Championship) budget. Something we will also have to deal with when promoted.

Schumacher was on the large shortlist in 2020 (when we got Evatt), but was seen as too inexperienced at the time. After being the assistant manager in the Plymouth team which got promoted to League One.

If he was to make the play offs, then I'd suggest he has more than enough experience, and no shortage of ability neither.

In fact, the fans would be well behind him.

However, as above, we don't think he wants it, and we should be looking longer term.

Cant' see the odds online any more. As folk above have said I hope this is a sign that the job is now Schumacher's. If so, onwards and upwards.

If it is Schuey I bet he can’t believe his luck with two very possible Wembley appearances, a huge supportive fan base and a loyal board who will back him all the way. T’is the stuff of dreams. 😉

Schumacer deal was done last night, not 100% sure when he takes charge though. 

I think Julian and Nolan should have the limelight on Tuesday.

If Schumacher was our no 1 choice all along, it just adds to the mystery of why they waited so long - they must have been confident Plymouth or some of the other clubs appointing managers didn't fancy him, otherwise straight away they're settling for 2nd choice.  The more I think about how much they delayed the inevitable, the more illogical it gets.

It's not uncommon these days for clubs doing the whole project thing to have a good idea of who they'd want to get in next

But I do think it dragged on longer than it should've because of Sharon's relationship with IE
