Just get a striker that knows what they're doing in this league. Pretty please.

  • Let's just get in the to fucking cunts. No more getting bullied and rolled like a bunch of gaylord fannies.

  • CMG is best in the B team

Conway had cramp and called it , that’s why he came off.

Cheers, I didn’t know that. 👍

SS will be judged on this season. Today was ok, very good in bits and poor in bits.

Watching bits back now after having a terrible view in ground, Burstow was very unlucky with 2 calls by the ref. The most obvious was the non penalty, which if given is also a red,

Then the non foul on Norwood where he could then put CMG in.

There is lot more to be optimistic about today than there were negatives.

If we'd won the last seven games of last season and suffered some Barry Knight-esque robbery in the playoffs, nobody would be saying those games didn't count. Least of all SS.

He'll be judged on results this season, sure. And if results are good then last season will be quickly forgotten. But if they aren't, then his record as a whole will obviously become harder to ignore. And kicking down the can further, to only judge him when he can select his assumed 'preferred' team is nonsense (not least because Erhahon & Gayle were both available to start yesterday).

It's not panic stations after one game. But there were 20+ match threads last year full of hard luck stories of how well we played in defeat. It'll only be positive when it leads to regularly winning football matches.

Should have been 1-0 up (at least) before they scored

Early doors and all that. Looked more attacking than under IE and players looking to shoot, encouraging.

Stockport aren't all that, and if they're fancied, we wont be far off.

Anyone who thinks we have not moved on from last season is deluded

GK......Better now

Defence Significantly Better

Midfield   Chalk and Cheese

Forwards    Jury out   Wingers are Quality   Both number 9s unproven

Another one of the ref's howlers.

Only the first game, 7 new players in starting 11, there were plenty of positives to take. I think we will do well this season.

And this too (apologies if already been posted).

I'm not sure I can agree the defence is significantly better

Absolutely shocking refereeing. But we should be used to it now, and we had plenty of chances to score. We really need to get out of this league.

The more I look at it how the fuck did that ref not give that ffs these refs are rubbish.

I think if the Lino had been on that side he probably would have seen it better but it’s still a staggering miss. We still don’t shout loud enough against poor decisions putting pressure on refs as other teams seem to do, maybe that’s something else we need to work on?

Yeah Cogley needs to point and gesticulate more imo.

Other than Rotherham at home and the Etete pen at Reading, I don't recall any?

There were quite a few where we either got late winners or the opposition had a man sent off and we arguably got the rub of the green.  Our points total and league position at the end of the season flattered us on balance.

🤣

Not convinced of any improvements over the past 2 years. We've struggled to score when on top for so long and have sold off our top 2 goal scorers from that time.

Collins and Charles had their flaws but I've no reason to believe those brought in can replace their goal output other than blind faith.

Well it is about opinions.....Start with las years defence, quite willing to take a reply on board

RWB,,,,Schon/Jones both not good, Jones coming back from his injury was never the same player....Central defence Firino  injured first game back after Christmas Forester injured not considered Johnson back after 12 months out finding his feet....Santos injured and not the player of the previous season.....Lets get to the left Tutu injured in a micky mouse efl game at Barrow.....Murphy a loan that did not work out.....Young player not going to slaughter him

This season, Cogley steady Eddie, was ok last season will be the same this....Toal ok needs to get over injuries

Forrester likewise, Johnson 12 months since returning from a bad injury steady and further forward than this time last season.. Firino  injured 6 months of last season grown since returning.......Taylor a diamond at this leval highly thought of in Scotland, Conway just keeps getting better will leave us for decent money ...Inwood Getting Stubbs, Holding  about him, think he can get into the premier league if avoiding injuries and another we can get decent money for

over to you

After having had 24 hours to think about it (necessary because like most of you I despise losing derbies, especially in scenarios like this where smaller opposition have the sign over us):

  •  I trust SS. He's clearly far, far more pragmatic than IE and has more steel about him. It'll be another 12 months/two transfer windows before I even think about calling the guy in to question given the mess he inherited. Ten new signings - but the overhaul remains a work in progress
  • SS has devoted most of his time to sorting out our midfield and attack and introducing width. He's brought in just one the one new defender in (Taylor) while giving Conway a deserved chance. There's only so much you can sort in one go. I do wonder if over time his attention will turn to our back line. He can try to organise them and change their mentality but will it be enough?
  • We have been dealt a tough start in our first three games. Despite defeat on Saturday I'd not be overly peturbed with two draws in these next two provided we kick on from there. Defeat on Saturday and a record of 0-0-2 would smart a bit though.
  • Would the result have been different with Dalby and Taylor fit? What with them two, Forrester, Dempsey, Warren etc - our luck with injuries just does not improve. For us to get out of this league that has to change.

Dalby can't be far off, and Warren has been cleared to play.

Only 22 miles apart. Most parts of the country that falls easily in to the bandwidth of what would be considered a derby.

Since when wouldn't it be?

Closer than Nottingham is to Leicester, and that's regarded as the east Midlands Derby.

Palace v Brighton gets called a derby

Even though it's not, they just don't like one another

You get Lancashire derbies, Yorkshire derbies or London derbies between two teams not near each other

This was a Greater Manchester one

Derby fans might disagree with that

I agree in terms of that being my reading of it. However, most match threads were generally positive about how it was the ref, the opposition keeper, blind luck, 'on another day we score four' type stuff. 'There or thereabouts' despite being 7th and never winning any game of consequence. It's rewriting history to say everyone could see we were shit all along.

The day Stockport was formed as a football club.
