We don't sell out our home end

If you think we'll get huge allocations in the championship you are mistaken

West Brom and Hull who are two that spring to mind

Agree they aren't huge but there aren't many under around 2k.  The smallest are probably Wrexham, Oxford, QPR and Swansea.  Hull and WBA at least 2.5k.

This league has loads around 1k, that's rare in the champ.

Burrell from Burton and Dale Taylor from Forest who looks to have chosen Blackpool though not confirmed

I've got to say, those 3 goals you conceded yesterday were collectively 3 of the worst I've ever seen  defensively!  Please arrange for that CB who's name escapes me to play 90 minutes here next week 😀

The downside for us is there's no way he's keeping his place.

Echo's of last season. Missed opportunities rued!

Strange away day, not a fan of Noon Sunday's.

Agree on part 2. Odd atmosphere all round.

Read somewhere Hull and West Brom are closer to the 1.5k mark

It'll still be chaos getting tickets

Reflecting a few hours on from today, we have a tough run of early fixtures, aren't turning out yet the 11 I'm sure SS sees as his best and haven't the forward options off the bench he would no doubt want.

That side today with Simons and Erhahon in tandem and Dalby up front ought to be the one SS is judged on. Taylor also to add into the defensive mix, though Conway did himself no harm at all.

This squad was a serious crock of imbalanced and weak minded shit when SS came in, he's done pretty well to manoeuvre as much as he has in one window (with still some scope for more), a bit of holding of the nerve might be required this month while it all gels, some get up to speed and further reinforcements arrive

And a change of formation im suprised how much he as been able to alter the squad already in one window and all the pleyers brought in look better than the ones out the door up to now .
A few more need to be moved on that tossed it off last season you have mactee saying he is in is best shape and lost a lot of weight . Why the fuck didnt he do that last season. ? If he had been out injured and pilled the weight on fair enough but he wasn’t no excuses

Blackburn got over 2.5k tickets for next week at WBA.  Oxford got 2.3k for Hull.  We'd still sell out those ends for a weekend game but we'd have a better chance of getting a ticket than for most games in L1.

Said before the game I didn’t expect many goals but it ended up with 2 which arguably could have been prevented and chances which arguably could have been converted.

Thought the team was almost as good as it could be for this opposition although I thought with a full squad we might have bettered them, especially if we’d signed Kenny and played him at 10 instead of McAtee, had Taylor available for that little bit of extra height and strength at the back (even though Conway did really well) and had Erhahon up to speed to partner Simons in the middle from the off. We were slow to react when Stockport doubled up on Duberry and started to get behind us down their left - was it Morley who was supposed to be covering for JDC when he pushed forwards?

Generally we played well, especially in the first half, but the subs didn’t, notably Gale and Sheehan. Even CMG a did well for an hour.

Thought SS had a slight dig at Morley and possibly McAtee for their wayward shooting and he knows as well as we do finishing is a problem - maybe Kenny is the answer? Dalby? Both?

Whatever happens, we again have the makings of a good team when everyone is fit and I think we’ll get better.

onwards and sideways!

Seems I’m in the minority but thought today was encouraging. Playing a team that (like us) will be up there, we were the ones creating chances and forcing the game.

First goal is just rub of the green stuff. We missed some really good chances, struck the woodwork twice, should have had a penalty. Ran out of steam and ideas a little second half but once Stockport got their second (the one thing that was really poor today) the game was done. Let’s be honest, Stockport rode their luck in that fired half today

Encouraging performances from some of the newer players too

I understand the hangover from last season means people will make comparisons, but they’re vastly different squads.

We never want to lose, but it’s one game out of 46. Let’s see where we are after 12 games. Had us down as a top 4 team and sticking with it after today.

I was the same until half time, but their scrappy goal completely knocked us out of our stride.

Was just last season all over again, which I found surprising given the changes, but completely changed the game and we didn't really have a proper go which was disappointing.

Early days of this 4231 but just cant see it with McAtee. Today it seemed like a wasted position ... Hoping Randall gets that No 10 spot for our next league game.

Even better ... we play a 3 of either Morley, Sheehan, Simons, Erhahon.

Hard to find 4 better CM's in this league from one club.

Conway looks like a promising talent.

Burstow looks decent ... nice hold up play & decent lay offs.

ACD looks levels above

CMG could be the surprise of the season.

Think we'll be up there.

I'm a fan of Josh Sheehan, but for me he's behind Morley, Simons, Randall and Erhahon right now.
hard to see how/where he fits in.

Agree .. but if the 10 position isn't effective and we go to a 3. He'll play apart.

This is exactly the difference between our respective squads at the moment. Stockport have big units and players who know how to win free kicks, deliver free kicks, win headers from free kicks.

We've tried to address this over the summer but we still have 3 major issues to resolve:

-striker: Dalby was signed to do exactly this kind of strong forward play but is unfortunately injured. Burstow coming in as backup was late and I'm not sure if this is his game

-RB: I've been banging on about this all summer but Cogley isn't big or strong enough and can get exposed. We need a decent big RB option for physical games

-and the biggest one, if we're playing 4231 we need the number 10 to be decent: McAtee is not good enough and incredibly weak. In this formation this role is key and he is a passenger. I'd rather switch to 433 and have another midfielder because we don't have that kind of off the striker player who will beat league 1 defences

Still 4 weeks to rectify this in the transfer window

Yeah and at the end of the day, despite it being "only Stockport County" they've had Dave Challinor in charge for 5 years now and are a team he has moulded and built over a long period of time, as well as finishing 3rd last season.

Meanwhile, Schuey has had to pick up an absolute mess, completely overhaul the squad and bring in a whole new team playing a new way and formation.

It's gonna take time. And I know for us supporters and myself included games like today we are just sick of seeing for so long. But I do genuinely believe it's coming.

I think we had 7 debutants today and we virtually outplayed them for most of the game.

Just teething issues, maybe 2/3 signings left and then the team just needs to bed in. We might be mid table until at least October or so, but I've already seen enough from these new signings and from Schuey to really kick on. Just needs a bit more patience unfortunately.

Everything i saw today just confirms why we need to get out of this shit league. Referring is shocking. Playing at little grounds with poor facilites. Uncovered terracing. There's better grounds in non league football. Poorly supported teams that can't even sell out their home end for their 1st game of the season. Were a big fish in a small pond. Just hope SS can find a way this season.

Those things you state aren’t a reason why we deserve to be in a higher league.  You get out of the league playing, battling and working harder than any other team - which is why we are still in this league.

A lot of a Smaller teams in higher leagues and let’s be honest, some have crap grounds, var is crap and refereeing is below standard,

ss has put a squad together I believe can do that, but like stockports  manager said after today, it can take a few weeks to start to gel, particularly with such wholesale squad changes.

Spot on. The 10 position is our big problem. I don't think we have a player capable of doing that role well enough so for me it should be a 433

Palsson will play unless we get a signing in. Two best defenders plus first choice keeper out for weeks.
