Keeper signed in a hurry and immediately starts, with the existing 2nd string still on the bench.

Said new keeper looks like a complete novice, and totally out of his depth at this level.

I don’t want to worry people but I can only think of one logical reason for this strange sequence of events: TSL is injured or ill, unlikely to play on Saturday, and we wanted to ensure Broom is available.

I’m guessing there are a few concerns that TSL might need a week off for his knee to heal, so we didn’t want to risk Broome?! Purely speculating

Obviously, the team will change, but any loss can affect the overall mood, including amongst fans.

McAtee is going to be in the squad, as are the two midfielders, one of the centre halves and both full backs.

If these guys aren't showing enough then it puts more pressure on SS as he has made it clear he intends rotation.

That said, the manager explained that his players aren't completely up to speed yet, and will get there after a few games.

I don't mind that per se, but it might make for some disappointing results against good teams we may need to get points from.

Barnsley have started well, it will be a tough game, and I fear a touch of the Stockports.

I would not be surprised if they start Saturday.

And I would not think it would that crazy if the 10 role was Sheehan or Morley ! More likely the former.

Tbf I think Randall is the more likely option. The midfield two last night had to a lot of work so Sheehan and Simons most likely 2 behind.

I don’t think it’s inconceivable 3 out of our 4 central midfielders will play together.

But I think it would be as one 6 and two eights in front. I don’t think any of them are playing as a 10 in place of Randal or Mcatee.

Does anybody have a handy diagram of what position all these 'numbers' are? I think I understand the number 9 and number 10 roles, but what the fuck is "one 6 and two 8's"?

100% this with Randall, McAtee (if still here?) and Sheehan fighting for the forward role. Randall looks favourite to me with Sheehan McAtee and Morley on the bench. I’d see McAtee and Morley as likely exits before the window closes.

TSL wouldn't have played last night regardless of his knee / gash. Unsure why SS chose the keeper he did though.

Erhahon and Simons are the primary midfield 2 this season, but EE needs a couple more games to get to full fitness so unsure if he starts Sat. Morley and Sheehan will get plenty of minutes with suspension, injury, loss of form and workload at certain times, but they're very much 3rd and 4th choice. Not many teams will have players like them two as cover though.

Last nights performance was ok, considering 10 men, 2 kids, keeper on debut and players getting minutes who needed them. Will have no bearing on Saturday. Barnsley have beaten an out of sorts Plymouth and laboured past Burton.

Expecting a positive result on Saturday.
