It was grim against Wigan too and that didn't stop us from battering them.

3-0.

There we go

Yeh - that was me.

We are in a really pivotal stage of the season. Two winnable games followed by two games with teams up there at the top.

Not losing ground on the likes of Huddersfield and Cardiff, seems more pertinent than catching Stevenage and Lincoln up.

I’d take 8 points from these next 4.

But today’s conditions could be a real leveller.

Is there a danger of it being postponed ?- It’s fucking wild out there!

That looks OK on paper but with 2 home games and 1 at Burton, I'd be disappointed not to win any of those.  Let's bear in mind 8 points from the next 4 means 8 points from 5 given we've just lost a winnable game, and for me it would be hard to take another 4 dropped points on the back of that.  We are in catch up territory and failure to win at Burton would represent a really dire away record.  Obviously not winning a home game - with our poor away record - isn't acceptable as we need to win those to make up for not winning away.

10 points from the next 4, to make it 10 from 5 as we need 2 points a game to catch up.

Heavy favourites in the premier League especially won't be in the any win will do category all the time. They'll be wanting to put a marker down to show they can go for the title.

2 seasons ago after we won our first 3 games we were in a similar position where it wasn't any win will do. We wanted to see the team produce a full 90 min performance because we were worried we looked soft at times in those wins (proved right as the season went on and we didn't get promoted).

This league 1 so far having unexpected teams at the top does probably mean every single game is any win will do territory.

I'll agree to disagree, I don't think any team goes into a league game not thinking a win will do.  Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool have had enough disappointing results against lower ranked teams not to take them for granted.  Anyway, taking the Prem out of it, I honestly don't recall not thinking any win will do for us, do you?  2 seasons ago we won the first 3, against 2 teams that were relegated and Lincoln at home, the 4th game was Wigan.  We were all buzzing for the game, big atmosphere and no way would any of us not have settled for a 1-0 win, even without hindsight.  I think the last time I turned up to games just expecting us to win easily was probably in the 100 goal/98 point season under Todd.  Every league game since then, any win will do, don't care how we play.

I never turn up expecting us to win is not that easy all games are tough this 1 included.

Our run of 1-1's and the Northampton result means we've already used our ballast. We need performances and results on a long run or, however nicely we're playing, we're battling for the fringe places.

Really really can't be arsed with this.

Have we (or any of the other 92 teams) had a league game this season when that's not been the case?

If we win today we won't be approaching the Burton, Huddersfield or Cardiff games saying a win would be OK but really we want to see a comfortable game with loads of great football, a clean sheet and goals for each of our strikers.

That’s why I said it ain’t rocket science  - wasn’t suggesting it was anything else other than what I want from this game - and TBF, every game.

The point being, all this tosh (possession and XG stats for example) excuses (we were close/poor decisions cost us etc) and bluster (we’re getting there/we’ll batter these etc) are fucking meaningless if we don’t score more goals than the other team, it’s that simple - especially after our underwhelming mid table start to this promotion campaign.

Ditto. Long schlep and gash weather.

Any Horwich residents give us a clue on the weather. Is it fucking horrible?

I don’t get all this panic about the weather. It’s a bit breezy and raining a little. I’ve seen the Wanderers play in far worse conditions than this.

I’m not surprised no matches have been called off anywhere, and would be surprised if they had. It’s called Autumn.

The current media hype about “adverse weather” seems to be getting to people.

Don't know where you are, but it certainly isn't /wasn't raining a little.

We've had several inches of rain in this last week or so, and some pitches may well become waterlogged, and who knows some roads may be difficult.

It certainly is in Breightmet. Though at this very moment, it has stopped raining, and there is a patch of blue sky.

May change again I suppose.

Game definately on.

I am in Horwich, albeit about as far as you can get from the stadium. The weather I would describe as breezy with the odd gust of wind. Rain has been been intermittent at best, this morning. No sign of pooling of water. In fact, with the breeze, pavements are drying very quickly when it’s not raining. It’s a standard Autumn day. No panic.

Anyone going

The BEER festival

after the game

Think we had a game in recent times where the forecast was similarly gusty. It had surprisingly little effect at pitch level, despite the stands being the windiest place on earth at the best of times.
