Mansfield Town (H)

Could be 4/5 changes for this - Wouldn’t be surprised to see Tutu, Simons, Dempsey, Cissoko and  Burstow start

Sheehan poor? Each to there own, but dont know what else he could have done tonight. He was the heart beat of the team first half, great shot which Dalby should have followed up but great defending as

  • I’ll have to watch again. At first watch it looked to me like the CB who is most culpable is Toal not Johnston, looks like he was out jumped ? That said TSL should be taking full responsibility.

Just back and fuck me I'm still not sure how we didn't win that.Mansfield were shite,we were wasteful

If Dalby  had buried that we win at a canter.Still lots to play for so I'm not throwing my toys out but we need to start putting a few wins together starting at Doncaster

Well that was another Rotherum / City smash and grab .

I do think we need an out and out striker akin to say Alfie May but he would be useless up top on his own with the way we play .  So the midfield needs to step up and score 10 apiece like they did with Nolan, Speed, Stelios, JJ Campo etc .

We dont get any goals from defence but are conceding a goal a game . So we dont have the attack nor defence for the top 2 .

I also think we need a designated DMC that we havent had since MJ Williams ,
I think we need to stop the rotation for rotations sake .

Decide on your best 11 and play that barring injuries.suspensions or severe lack of form .

As for the illusive #10 ACD could fill that role easily IMO .

About to get more drunk and confident we smash Donny on Thursday !

Again 22 shots, 4 on target, that again is our problem. Some of our approach play is above Div 1 standard, some of our finishing is unbelievable.

We're 22 games into the season and still bleating about how we are the 'on another day' runaway league leaders.

The 'best squad in the league' has spent 0 days in the top two and is now 7 points adrift of Lincoln City. To get to 92 points we need to go at 2.3ppg across the next 24 and we haven't looked remotely like stringing that kind of form together. We've won two away games and still have to visit all of the top three.

Still time and a window to change things, but the facts are we've been miles off it. If the alarm bells aren't ringing now you're not paying attention.

We are still bleating about it because we are creating the chances and dominating games, but lacking that final bit if quality. Of course it needs to change, this form doesnt see us promoted, and potentialy just scraping the play offs but we really are not far off

We've seen that game over in recent times, its killing any chance of top 2. Our inability to bundle in ugly goals from a set piece or a long throw is commendable but costing us points.

Lots of other things also could be much better but this seems like the most basic.

We've had some people representing this club in the position of "striker" over the years that are or were of a very poor quality, however the current incumbents are a different level of poor, pub team level at best, are they not embarrassed to take money for what they do?

Conmen.

We can’t keep missing sitters every week. Nearly cost us last week and did cost us this week. There’s none of them fills me with confidence every chance we get.

I’m just hoping he gets at least a shot in but with no real expectation .

My confidence is as shot as half a dozen of ours tonight.

On a positive note it wasn’t as cold as I expected.

These freak results are inevitably going to happen from time to time. Fine.

However, if we are to progress, we need to be doing better elsewhere. Right now, we aren't.

Another effing prick.

Go on… elaborate? Indulge me

You effing cunt

Just got back. We’re one hell of an enigma, aren’t we? Forced 3-4 top drawer saves from their keeper and yet at the same time felt like we’d created fuck all.

Much like the game at their place, Mansfield were more than happy to work hard, do their jobs and sit back and watch us pass the ball about in front of them. Once again Toal and Johnston had more touches than anyone. Much like the rest of the league, they’re a poor footballing side but they’re prepared to graft and stick their body on the line, and it’s concerning when that’s all that’s needed to get a win against us.

Certainly when Morley came on there were some great balls in to the box, but by this point Dalby had gone off and Burstow wasn’t anywhere near any of them. The low one across the 6 yard box really should have been meat and drink for any striker in this league.

I’ve criticised Schumacher for the like-for-like substitutions so I will give him credit for the change of shape, but I felt it came far too late and ultimately needed Burstow and Dalby up top as ACD looked lost on the right of a front three.

Cissoko put in one hell of an impressive entry for worst cameo ever witnessed, but booing him was bang out of order.

First instinct was Cissoko’s yellow card was correct for his dive but plenty around me thought otherwise so wouldn’t mind seeing a replay. The ones on Sheehan and Conway were stone wall penalties for me. Certainly can’t go blaming the referee though when there were so many shortcomings elsewhere.

Next two are absolute must win games now.

Don't think I've seen a worse 20 minute spell from a professional footballer than Cissoko tonight.

The lad won't sleep tonight.

Might even struggle myself.

When ACD put one in the top corner in the last minute against Cardiff (or Orient) they would probably have argued that it was a bit of good fortune as a very low xG chance. But it's wasn't, he's a quality player and that's the kind of things quality players can do.

Equally, it's not luck that players with no track record of scoring goals at this level are missing chances. It's just who they are. Not having the 'final bit of quality' has been a fixture of their entire careers.

How on earth we didn’t win that I’ll never know.

Sheehan and Tutu both excellent, the rest, not great. Gales end product was really poor and Cissoko the less said the better. We’re crying out for some wingers that can actually cross a ball.

Another poor performance from ACD, cutting in way too much. We were over reliant on Tutu for anything going forward down the right hand side today.

ACD hasnt produced in weeks, players have off games and dont alway score. Dalby and Burstow have both already scored this season showing they can do it at this level. We missed that final bit if quality tonight and it includes ACD and the rest of them

I think you’re glass half full with most things, but you’re probably right with this.

A single game does not define a player or a team but a career to this point for any player not in their teens will give you a good idea of what to expect (other than the rare few that blossom late). We need a goalscorer in Jan, and quick.

I can't understand when people say on another day we win that 3-0 or 4-0 we just don't do that we have only scored 30 goals this season 1 more than Blackpool the least in the top 6 and we concede nearly every game it's a poor league and we are average SS needs to look at the system maybe time to not use 2 wingers and look for a midfielder that can get us some goals

felt like the temperature dropped 10 degrees at half time.

Dempsey needs to be starting, thought sheehan was poor, Cissoko, no comment.

Some of Gales crosses int first half would've been perfect from the other side, can understand the insistence of inverted wingers but with Dalby starting surely we should be swapping them over every now and again?

We'd still not have scored if we were still playing now, one of those games.

it'll be reet👍

Anyone on here ?

Dalby has scored 2 in 18 this season and has 5 in 68 in his EFL career (49 of those were in L2).

Burstow hasn't scored for nearly 3 months and has 12 career league goals, seven of which came in a 10 game span this season.

It can hardly be a shock that they aren't the most clinical.

Spend big money on 2 strikers in January. … either loan or transfers…. Only way to  get out of this league.

Bit he has no record of "burying that". It's cruel to expect it. Cruel on him & on the fans.

If the Board want us to get into the Championship it will cost them however much Keillor Dunne  from Barnsley along with a proven goalscorer. Do not care if any of the five loan signings go back or whoever they sell to bring money in for those two

Burstow is 22 and scored 7 for us this season, he is having a bad spell but you cany right him off. Dalby is more questionable, but i still dont think we give him the service he needs
