It's the closest explanation I've seen to our relatively modern fucked up world

I am certainly not against the intervention against the Iranian regime, and they have certainly not been on the right side of international law. They have funded drone attacks against the Royal Navy through the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea and their regime is one that is not good for international cohesion. The thought of 80 sailors losing their life to a torpedo attack in international waters makes me feel a little bit sick though. They are not responsible for the actions of their government, joined their military due to a sense of immense pride instilled in their education system, but probably had no warning, some would have been in bed, eating, praying, calling home, and after listening to multiple accounts of survivors during the Falklands, coupled with picturing the faces of shipmates, I just feel like the ship could have been disabled without loss of life.

They were on their way back from an exercise in India I think? One that the US was going to participate in also but cancelled at the last minute? Unless that is is social media bollocks of course, which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

War is fucking grim.

Lovely heart felt post from someone who has been there, and served.

Just one question though, when you sign up you are at the behest of the government - any government - even if you believe in the conflict or not. How do you fellas square that knowing your own voice is just there to serve?

World War 3 is about to kick off and NIC & Royal find common ground

Maybe we'll be alright after all

I was Speaking about this not long back with some of the older lads, they put it down to trust, Which around the time they served, 80s and 90s you could understand. Northern ireland was the main conflict and was obviously a big threat at the time, the Falklands was an invasion on sovereign land and the Gulf war seemed legitimate so to speak. When I was in it was pretty much the same, Ireland was still on, Iraq and Afghanistan was this mass invasion to get rid of bad guys and get rid of WOMD and numerous peace keeping missions everything seemed to be for a reason. Then the truth started to come out, lads and lasses starts to leave because of the bull shit wars and conflicts and government lies, something they were never privy to. I can’t speak for the lads serving now, as all the lads I know will be in an office now just waiting for their pension.

I don’t know where I’m going with this answer 😆 but I guess for the young lads and lasses serving now it’s just a job, more will have  a better understanding of conflicts and how the world is thanks to MSM, social media, the internet etc and for that reason have more of an opinion

So my final answer is it’s just a job….

What could possibly go wrong? 🤣

Although it might give us some idea about the levels of support for the regime at home and abroad.

I wonder how many people will turn up? Be interesting to find out (and a quick way to get themselves on a watch list no doubt).

😆😆 what a time to be alive, Iranians celebrating Trump in Manchester

Well he does it based on public opinion rather than a specific person. And I don't necessarily think his principles change as much as his policies - but I can see the point you're trying to make and it has some merit.

Reading this morning about the US plan to work with the Kurds to give them a presence on the ground. Eeeeek!

Send the buggers back

Good move from Zelenskyy, whose forces have more experience dealing with drone warfare than any other nation on the planet.

Partners are reaching out to us, to Ukraine, for help with defense against Shaheds, expertise, and real operational support. There have been requests about this from the American side as well. These past few days I've spoken with the leaders of the Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. There will be more talks with other regional leaders. We're coordinating with our European partners. Of course, any assistance we provide is only on the condition that it doesn't diminish our own defense in Ukraine and that it serves as an investment in our diplomatic leverage. We help protect from war those who help us, Ukraine, bring this war to a dignified end», - Zelenskyy on Wed, Mar 4th, 2026.

This is NOT Winston Churchill!

From the Wikipedia updates but....

"Iran's Foreign Ministry stated the military has lost control over several units operating on old general instructions".

Worth flagging again because it explains why Iranian strikes are hitting places like Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan airport — centralised targeting discipline is breaking down.

Iran have made overtures to the US through back channels about possible negotiations according the the New York Times. Which is encouraging - although still a long way off (if at all) I'd imagine.......

This war is costing the Americans 1 billion per day

Good thing they upped those tariffs

Meanwhile, Donald Trump says he must be involved in picking Iran's new leader.......

Why must he? - I thought he'd be happy to let the Iranians decide, clearly not.....

I'll try not to be, we'll all continue to bow down to your pseudo-intellectualism on this and every other subject instead.

Of course, this is all part of a meticulously thought out masterplan by a group of brilliant strategists, how silly of us.

I knew you had the capability to get there.
