Be interesting to see what Keir does now.

"This is NOT Winston Churchill" 😉

Although I could see us joining some sort of multi country coalition designed specifically at keeping the shipping lanes open.

If such a thing is even possible.

Obviously not on the same scale but we (when I worked private) regularly transited through the main pirated areas off the coast of east Africa under a military escort.

Mind you, this is at HUGE risk of being dragged into a war we're not equipped to fight by the sounds of things. That would be my concern.

If it was UN brokered and it had the approval and participation of at least China - then maybe.

I don't know enough about it to really make a call either way on this one.

Must have been shit scary (yet oddly exhilarating) I bet?

Well, that all depends on what the hell we have that is even remotely possible to sail I suppose. No doubt some will blame the PM for that (err.. why?) but the MoD and the Navy Admirals (that we have so many of) need to have a good look at themselves.

I’d happily us sit this one out, there’s plenty of countries with ships ready to go in the region let them crack on with it.

95% of the time it was boring, just getting paid silly money for looking at 2 different shades of blue 😎 though the early days were a little more exciting when we had to make petrol bombs and cardboard cut outs of AK47s as no weapons were allowed!

Just leave them to it

If they've obliterated 100% of their military capability already then I'm sure been them and Israel they can get this under control

I am not sure anyone in Westminster of any colour rosette can be blamed if a warship, aircraft carrier or frigate is operational or not.

I wouldn't blame even incompetent wankers like Gavin Williamson for basic things the Navy should be on top of themselves.

Didn’t the massive cunt say recently they didn’t need help from anybody?

Starmer should tell him to get fucked and sort his own shit out.

Surely the idea is to make these agreements before you dive in and bite off more than you can reasonably chew.

Having said that - if Iran are able to shut the straight to shipping and we don't prevent them from doing so - then the regime will learn that they can basically shut down the economy whenever they please. Which is one hell of a leverage point to start negotiations from.

Trump has said that “100% of irans military capability has been wiped out”

then says

”but they can still strike”

So which is it you fucking rapey, baffled, demented old bag of shit?

Its no wonder the world thinks he’s a cunt is it?

This post by him is a moment of absolutely generational headloss.

For a war he claims to have won, begging a load of nations he was dismissing as unneeded a week ago is fucking insane.

Hes totally out of his depth now and asking for help.

And still - still - his cult want to suck his dick.

This war could end up being a real millstone round his neck, I suspect it's already dragging on a bit longer than he thought it would. He'd possibly have been better off not starting it, and just admitting that he fucked a few kids, his fans would have forgiven him already if he'd just done that a couple of weeks ago.

There's plenty who think he's a great negotiator and peace broker. Fuck knows why but it seems some folk like makeup wearing narcissistic wankers, maybe they see something in themselves?

Some think he's "a great disruptor" by design, and it's all part of a master plan. He's certainly a great disruptor, but only because he makes things up as he goes along, and as/when his brain farts go wrong, he just shits his nappy and then about turns.

He does provide much humour though to be fair.

Some people can't help but follow "strong man" leaders. It's the way their minds work. Top down. Hierarchical. And it's easily manipulated.

Not that I consider Donald Trump a "strong man" but it's the way he's perceived by a lot of his voter base, unfortunately.

He is funny in a way, but a bit like that mental bloke in the pub who is slightly amusing as long as he isn't mithering your table.

Imagine being Zelensky now, having took so much shite from Trump and now being asked to help the US with anti drone tech they said they didn't need. Meanwhile because of Trump's fuck up the oil price has meant he has lifted some sanctions on Russia.

Seems Zelensky is helping some gulf states directly, good on him.

The issue is that most of the ships in our current fleet are old and need replacing.  These replacements should have been agreed and ordered 10 years ago and they would be ready now, but the government at the time didn't.  Apparently we have 28 ships currently either being built or on order, but they are currently of zero use to us.

"The UK currently has a significant pipeline of 28 warships and submarines planned or in construction. Key projects include:

Key Naval Construction Projects:
  • Type 26 Frigates (City Class): Eight anti-submarine frigates are being built on the Clyde to replace Type 23s. As of September 2025, the first five are under construction, with HMS Glasgow, Cardiff, and Belfast leading the class.
    Forces News +2
  • Type 31 Frigates (Inspiration Class): Five general-purpose frigates are being built at Rosyth, with steel cut for HMS Bulldog and HMS Active rolled out as of February 2026.
    GOV.UK +2
  • Submarines: Construction is ongoing for the final Astute-class submarine and the first three of four Dreadnought-class nuclear submarines.

  • Fleet Solid Support Ships: Three new replenishment ships for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary are on order."
